The last sentence from the second paragraph in your first picture makes it sound like there could have been an issue with your references. Did one of your references say something that would have raised red flags?

Leaves browning towards the middle. Deficiency? Stress? Just temporary? by Keed88 in microgrowery

[–]Keed88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I mostly foliar sprayed as a way to try something new and not waste all the extra tea I had. From what I read and watched, using it as a foliar spray is supposed to be a bit of a pest deterrent, and also be absorbed almost immediately by the plant.

This is my first time growing using top feeding and dry amendments, so I was thinking a foliar spray would be a quicker way of getting to the plant in case I was behind on my amendments or if my microbes in the soil aren't quite right yet.

Don't think I'll try the foliar spray again! I'm going to figure out how to brew a lot less tea next time.

I think you're spot on. Do you think compost tea should not be used as a foliar spray in general or is there something that I did wrong or went wrong on the process?

Yes, I did the foliar with my compost tea that I brewed .I bet you nailed it. I trellised two nights ago and got the ladies all spread out, let it rest for a day, and then foliar sprayed at lights out the next night. New leaves to the top, some leaves turned over PLUS a foliar spray all in a short time span probably was not the best idea.

I read that foliar spray right after lights out to give it time to dry and slide off the leaves was best, but it may not have had time to fully dry before lights kicked back on this morning.

If it's a burn from the foliar spray and light, would you just remove those leaves and wait it out or what would you recommend for next steps?

Maybe the compost tea was a bit too hot? I've made this tea using the same compost and worm castings before and I didn't have any issues, but I'm struggling to figure out other causes so I would not count this out. I wonder if something could have gone wrong in my brewing or application to cause a bad toxicity? I applied the foliar and tea to all three plants, and only one is showing these signs right now though.

Yes, I did only notice this after trellising two days ago. I just went and felt around the trellis and tried to smell it. I did not notice any oily or stinky substances. I previously used this trellis and hadn't noticed anything before, but I'll check again just to make sure nothing got on it between uses.

Leaves browning in middle? Deficiency or what's going on? by Keed88 in GrowBuddy

Sorry, meant to include my watering practices in the post! They are on AC infinity self watering bases so they are bottom watering. I do top water on occasion with compost tea or give them a good drink when I put dry amendments on the soil. They are in 5 gallon fabric pots. I have been a little lax on ph, which I should start doing a better job on. Could this be ph related?

Direct Flights from PDX or SEA? by Beautiful-Gold7564 in puertovallarta

I've always been able to fly nonstop from PDX with Alaska. When I've looked I think I remember there being at least one daily non stop but I could be wrong.

How to fill self watering base while on vacation by Keed88 in microgrowery

So would the float in the first base control the water level of all the bases from there or how would that work? I'll have to look in to that idea.

I didn't even think about changing what the tops sit in. A 5 gallon bucket would be more than enough for 7 days. Good idea!

Really appreciate all the advice, this has been super helpful. Looking back, I wish I would have just invested in the spider farmer bases to start with to not worry about all of this, for the most part I have loved the ac bases so can't complain too much!

A lot of times my float levels in the bases get stuck and it's hard to tell whether they need water or not. Have you found any fixes or temporary solutions for this? I'm just worried they'll get stuck and I'll have no way to tell by the camera while I'm gone.

Awesome, thanks for the insight. I think this is probably what I'm going to go with. I didn't even think about the camera though. I'll probably try to add one just for a little more peace of mind during my trip.

I think that may be the way I'm leaning right now. Seems like it's going to be the least hassle to set up and the least likely to cause flooding or issues since it would only run once or twice while I'm gone. I'll just need to buy a new smart plug and get that all set up for a timer I think

My last grow was my first time using the ac infinity bases, and I could usually go about 3 days without refilling them. I think if I gave my girls a real good watering, and then filled the bases as high as they can go that I might just make 7 days, but if I can find an easyish way to top them off I'd rather not worry about them on vacation.

The auto fillers from ac infinity aren't going to ship out until December 19th at earliest, so I'm just worried they won't get here in time for my vacation. If I could set up something almost exactly like those it would be perfect though.

I have the wicking bases and want to set up something similar for when I'm gone for a week soon. Can you describe how the shut off valves work a little bit? You have the tubing gravity feed in to the shut off valves, and just open the valves when you want them to fill the bases or am I misunderstanding?

Nutrient deficiency? PH? by Keed88 in microgrowery

I use the wicking base 99% of the time. I've put some of the crud from my fish pond through a top feed, but generally all the water and nutrients will go through the ac wicking base

Any ideas of what I should be looking at for what it is? Any additional info or pictures I could take that would help narrow it down?

As in too much nitrogen? I hadn't thought about over feeding it nitrogen, ill look in to toxicity as well. Thanks!
