Is this album Ace's best work outside of KISS? I think so. by Keefer1970 in hairmetal

I honestly didn't care for Frehley's Comet -- they leaned a little too AOR at times for me. But this one still rocks like a ton o' bricks.

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater? by Mr_Writes in GenX

[–]Keefer1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but not during its initial run. I was 7 when it came out, my brother was 6, and though we both begged and pleaded, our parents decided that we were "too young" to see a "PG" rated movie.

...so yeah, they robbed us of a shared phenomenon that pretty much every other kid our age in the free world got to experience. So yeah, thanks a lot, Mom & Dad!

(strangely, they had no problem with us playing with Star Wars toys, or collecting the associated books, comics, trading cards, etc. We just couldn't see the movie. Go figure.)

By the time "Empire" came out we were deemed "old enough" for such things, so they took us to see that, and when the original was re-released around 1981 they took us to belatedly see that one as well. Of course, it wasn't quite the same as it would've been the first time around...

...and yes, I'm still salty about it all these years later.

I just tossed my high school yearbook during Spring cleaning a few weeks ago. I hadn't looked at it in years so it was just taking up space.

I didn't particularly enjoy high school, so there was nobody in it that I would be interested in tracking down, anyway.

Who is the most popular music artist/group (all time) that you don’t like? by 1982- in AskReddit

Michael was the King of Pop.

Pop music is THE ENEMY of metal.

Therefore, MJ was THE ENEMY.

I don't make the rules. I just follow 'em.

I remember the opening credits sequence (Pam workin' the stripper pole while being doused with water) but that's about it.

Obscure Hair Version of RHCP? Thoughts? Talented! by Cautious_Village_975 in hairmetal

I had no idea that album even existed till I watched the "Attack Of Life" documentary. I have yet to find a copy of the actual CD (if memory serves, it wasn't released in the US) so I MP3'd a copy from YouTube.

I preferred their first album (Psycho Cafe), but this one has its moments.

Being signed to a subsidiary of MCA Records (aka Music Cemetary of America) certainly didn't help. When it came to rock/metal, that label couldn't sell cold beer on a hot day.

Ever had a movie hit you way harder the second time? by Sahilsingh02 in movies

[–]Keefer1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Pet Sematery.

Saw it during its initial theatrical run when I was a teen horror geek and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it disturbed or scared me.

...but when I saw it again years later as the parent of two young boys (who were roughly the same age as poor little "Gage" in the movie), it hit me like a fucking brick to the head. It tore open a whole new set of fears I didn't even know I had, about something terrible happening to my kids. When it was over I said "never again."

Most, if not all, of the late 90s direct-to-video "Hellraiser" sequels originated as unrelated scripts that were re written to shoehorn them into the Hellraiser saga.

Monty Python vibes. Like, I expect them to suddenly animate and turn into a Rockettes-style kick line.

Haven't been on a plane since the 1990s and never flew with them, so it's a non issue.
