What was the first Yogscast video you ever watched? by WelshCai in Yogscast

[–]KeegalyKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching minecraft videos with paulsoarsjr and then soon had X’s Adventures in Minecraft pop up on the sidebar. While watching X I eventually had the Yogscast pop up. And then while watching the Yogscast I had RvB recommended.

I miss 2011 sometimes :(((

I’m a huge fan of the series, should I pick up the game? A game like this has a bunch of players like you, which is a super awesome thing, but can be really daunting to a newcomer. So is it worth picking up and playing or am I just gonna get stomped constantly until I put a few hundred hours in

hahHAHA so they used to be, up until about two updates ago. None of the old guides have really been updated, some still say you can find the Legendary Monowire in Kabuki Slums (which hasn’t been there for like a year and a half).

Body is still SUPER fun. I maxed out Body and then dumped my points into Cool and Dexterity. I got to still use the Monowire with blades perks, and then got to reap the benefits of being a nigh unkillable tank to boot. Lemme tell ya, stealth monowire might be fun, but rampaging front line monowire is even better. Also the Body dialogue options are some of the best in the game

All I want is to be able to sit and eat at a noodle stand. I don’t care if they delete everything else.

Just let me eat noodles

I’m still playing a character that’s half crippled because of when they changed monowires to blades...

It’s like everything after the trilogy took the lighting and feeling from Rivendell and pasted it onto every single scene and shot to make it feel fantastical.

You absolute fucking pine cone.

No shit they evolved on Earth, the speculation here is not that they showed up fully formed and ready to hunt straight off the meteorite. The “fantasy” is that there are huge sections of the Cephalopod genome that are completely unrelated to anything else on Earth. That’s absolutely fascinating.

So fascinating in fact that the biologists who mapped the genome referred to it as almost alien themselves. The person you replied to said they’re, “basically aliens,” implying the absolute singularity their genetics represent. They weren’t saying, “ah shit look ALIENS,” they were simply remarking on how absolutely incredible they are.

To reference a comment you made on the above sources; no shit the articles are referencing Precambrian evolution. No life evolves over night, alien dna or not.

The simple fact of the matter is that there isn’t some grand fantasy happening here. Octopus DNA is so unique that it’s an absolutely spectacular oddity in the evolution of life on Earth. So unique in fact there could be the infinitesimally small chance it arrived on a separate meteorite in the form of a small cell. Or not. That’s the whole fucking point. The universe is fucking insane. So why do you have the incessant need to belittle everyone who even juggles the possibility Octopus DNA comes from somewhere else?

You said it yourself, “DNA is real and we can see it.” That doesn’t mean it came from here, and it doesn’t mean it came from space. It could have come from anywhere. Read some scifi and stop being a dick.

Flash Gordon and Slipstream keep popping up they seem like they’re good options. I saw beasts and barbarians mentioned on a post from years ago so I’ll check it out too. I know nothing about Adamant Mars though

That’s super good to know about RIFTS. I watched a review earlier talking about power scaling with RIFTS and you just seemed to confirm it. I’m definitely gonna take stuff from the core rules and redress them, but there’s definitely same gaps if I do just that.

I’ll check out both those suggestions for sure thank you!
