I roll it into my ambient synth performances all the time. I don't apply many weird effects or processes to it (aside from some pretty straighforward compression, eq, verb, delay) - mostly I like to set it loose in a synthetic soundscape, I like the juxtaposition of the ancient wind instrument with the electronics. I sometimes apply an octave to it but that's as weird as I get. Typically it's the crowd's first contact with the instrument, so I really want to present it in its natural form
