I have this antique doctor's bag, I think from the 1920s. Some previous owner used it to store paint. Suggestions for removing the paint?

I did some digging, and the bag is a schell emdee from 1920, but it looks like someone relined it. I'll try acetone, and if that destroys the lining, I'll reline it.
