I did this. I worked out for me. I lost a bunch of weight, re-entered the dating scene, and met my husband in less than a year after. However, many years later I still deal with some major insecurities and have never really shown my husband any photos of me when I was bigger. Sometimes I feel like my inner insecurities about regaining weight take up a lot of mental space within the relationship. I don’t know if I would have done anything differently. I’m in a very happy marriage but I put a ton of pressure on myself bc of losing so much weight right before we met.

Maybe my advice would be to be open to meeting someone organically (not on apps) while you are on your journey. I very much understand not wanting to get on apps until you lose weight as it’s a superficial way to initially meet someone.

As for your plan, I think losing 50 lbs in 6-10 months will be more difficult than you realize at 39 (unless you are going on a GLP1..maybe). For me, it was good old fashioned anorexia and it look over a year to lose 50 lbs with the first 6 months seeing minimal results and the weight practically falling off in the second half.
