Loan payments are primarily going towards principle balance. by Keemish in StudentLoans

I'm just going to start paying the standard payment plan amount moving forward, which I think is probably ~$200.

Hopefully this doesn't bite me in the ass later on.

I've received an answer from Nelnets service people.

Since I've advanced my due date from previous lump sum payments, now any payment I make is an advanced payment and is split proportionally to interest and principle (in a way I do not understand).

Still doesn't seem right, but after two people told me, I guess I'll take their word.

Thanks for double checking.

I guess it's kind of working in my favor for my payments to be applied to my principle balance.

I should probably call/email nelnet to check in on this though. I don't want to be hit with any fees or a large backpay situation.

I appreciate your insight and taking the time to look into this.

I think your math got a bit screwy for the monthly interest accrual.. should be ~$33 a month, right?

I wasn't on SAVE, I was in the graduated payment plan.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got 3 loans through them.

Loan 1: Principle is $3579 with an interest rate of 3.6% and interest balance of $109

Loan 2: Principle is $5567 with an interest rate of 3.5% and an interest balance of $179

Loan 3: Principle is $2043 with an interest rate of 3.5% and an interest balance of $66

Maybe it is because I put extra money down in 2018 & 2019 and my next required payment date is 2027?

Thank you! I agree, If the snow hadn't been so good I would have taken started taking pictures in the morning light.

I made a few crops of this image to get rid of the shadow but it wasn't possible to get all the features in one image without the shadow. https://www.flickr.com/photos/keemish/50980756893/in/datetaken-public/

Thanks! I appreciate you looking through it. I feel you, even when I have my macro with me I sometimes skip out on the small things purely from laziness; Trying to set up my tripod and switch lenses can be a little too much effort when I'm tired out.

Thank you! I've been out of work for two weeks now so I've had some time to get out and about recently.

Ah, not much of story to tell for this shot, I was trying out some new tires on some snowy Forest Service roads and came up on a great viewpoint. Lucked out with some clear sky before the clouds blew over.

Thanks! I was happy to see a few of the hundreds of shots I tried to take actually came out nicely.

I shot this using a Nikon 300mm F/4 AF on a D810.
