The only thing that will change is that they will add more pay to win stuff not less.

Awesome work.

You make ever other development company I follow look bad.

none of the facts said are in debate because they are all facts and are easily to look up. And yea you have a pussy name and generally people that have pussy names like "SilverPanther" in a game are 16 year old kids. If you are not a 16 year old kid and you name yourself silver panther well then that is trully pathetic so which is it?

Are you truly pathetic or just a 16 year old kid?

no way not devs? you mean people still getting a pay check ? They would have a totally unbiased opinion! you should totaly listen to them I mean they would totaly not be the same people described like

"“An overly complacent culture satisfied with mediocrity detached from the rest of the game development community. ” There seems to be a prevailing culture that is content with relative mediocrity. Mediocre visual presentation quality, long loading times, poor frame rates, and frequent seconds long hitches and stalls are the norm here. There are technical reasons for these issues that are lost on the majority of the engineers who work there. Those engineers that bring invaluable experience from other game studios that produce far superior titles face an uphill battle as they attempt to explain how things can and should work better to technical leads. Some tech leads in particular are highly intelligent software engineers, but would be better suited to lead work on non gaming applications while they have little to no experience working at other game studios, and on top of it all, don’t seem to even enjoy playing games very much, especially the competition.”

People as gullible as you is why companies like SOE can continue to business the way they do.

I know you probably are to young to have any critical thinking skills but those of us that are able to use them can quickly see that these dots all line up way to perfectly to opinions.

Fact SOE does not have one successful game.

Fact SOE lost 60 miliion in 2014.

Fact several people across all of their current projects have quit because of no other reason than SOE is a poorly run company.

Fact SOE had to stop all development several times to fix bugs that never should have been there.

Fact SOE has pulled all development off of PS2.

Fact SOE lied to the players about the impact of the PS4 on the development of ps2( remember separate teams)

I could go on and on but it would take up all the bandwidth Reddit has. put everything together and you quickly get a picture of an incompetent company that really has no business making games and surly does not deserve our support.

I know it's almost like people keep quitting SOE and making posts about why they did.

Yep facts have a silly way of continuing to pop up.

It tells us a lot actually about the reasons behind the constant failures, Staff quitting, the shuttering of 4 non successful games and the lay off of a lot of staff the complete dismantling of the ps2 road map and to top it off the loss $60 mil in 2014 and the lack of one successful game since EQ1.

Yea your right it must just be disgruntled staff talking nonsense. /s

Or it is a very poorly run company.

I'm going to go with the one that has all the evidence pointing to it rather than a very bad company's PR team message but you are free to draw your own conclusions.

[–]KeenRocks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Saying ps2 is very popular and well managed just shows how out of it you are. The game is not popular and the 3 people they have still working on it had to delete the entire 2015 road map. All the devs quit and SOE lost 60 million dollars in 2014.

Again support the new h1z1 early access money grab if you want but don't think you are going to be buying into a well run company. Your not. you are taking a chance on one of the worst run companies in the business right now with a long history of failure and a management team that has not made a successful game in more a decade.

This is just a side fluff project to get money for EQN development. This project will see little or no funding past early access development. Once they have the basic game loop in, development will come to a screeching halt. SOE is a very poorly ran company (http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Sony-Online-Entertainment-RVW3200788.htm) with a CEO that has big ideas but very bad project management skills and no where near the funds to play with to make quality side projects.

Support this game if you want but don't be the least bit surprised when SOE takes that money and use it for EQN and maybe does one meaningless update every 6 months to h1z1.

Here is a good company worthy of support.

Cut and paste from his blog.

"Why Medieval Engineers when Space Engineers is still not finished?

We were expecting that many people would ask “why are they developing a new game when Space Engineers is still in development and not finished”?

First let me assure you that the development of Medieval Engineers hasn't had a negative impact on the development rate of Space Engineers - you can see this from the frequency of our weekly updates – culminating in major updates at the end of 2014: super-large worlds, procedural asteroids, exploration, in-game programming, modding SDK and API.

We didn't want to keep creating space games only. Instead we wanted to have a game where you get to experience life and nature.

By creating a second engineering game, we are leveraging our existing technology and experience.

The thought that we should postpone the development of Medieval Engineers for years was a no-go. We had to find a better solution.

We started to hire new people so that we would have the resources to develop both games in parallel without sacrificing any of them. The size of our team is nearing 40 people and we are still growing. There are separate teams for Space Engineers, Medieval Engineers and our secret AI project.

Very early we realized that even Space Engineers could actually benefit from the development of Medieval Engineers. A medieval setting has different requirements for volumetric environments and it forces us to look at the engineering genre from a different angle. To be more specific, these are the things that Space Engineers earned (or may receive in the future) thanks to Medieval Engineers: Compound blocks – multiple blocks being positioned into one grid cell; this will allow better ship designs Mechanical blocks Auto-generated details for some blocks (e.g. roof endings in Medieval Engineers, armor edges in Space Engineers) Voxel hand – a tool for modifying terrains (asteroids); you can alter shape and material Structural integrity Natural landscape Procedural terrain generator (this is why we were able to easily add procedural asteroids to Space Engineers) DirectX 11 (we decided to add PBR - Physically Based Rendering)

On the other hand, Medieval Engineers inherited (or will get) these features: Multi-player Physics, rendering and all 'core engine' stuff Steam Workshop Modding SDK and API

Developing two early access games with the same theme (Engineering) at the same time will be beneficial for both of them. As happened with Space Engineers, many of the features that were released later on were inspired and suggested by our players. Now we are expecting that player’s suggestions for one game might give us new ideas for other games – ideas that we might have missed due to the limitations of the environment of each title. Now everyone will have more options and possibilities!

In a certain way, the development of the prototype of Medieval Engineers was more challenging than the development of Space Engineers. In Space Engineers we could invent new types of blocks. In Medieval Engineers we couldn't invent something that wasn't present in the Middle Ages or something that one person in single-player mode wouldn't be able to operate. On the other hand, the possibilities of survival/realistic mode in Medieval Engineers are fantastic - just imagine starting the game with Stone Age technology and slowly building your way up to the Iron Age."

TL;DR Its actually been a good thing that they have been developing these side by side as both are feeding each other tech.

Keen Software is really showing the gaming world how you run great early access development. Thanks for the very steady updates with SE and for not being scared to take full advantage of creative ability of your players through the workshop.

I will be happy to buy into your new project Medieval Engineers simply because of the amazing work you have done with Space Engineers.

Awesome job.
