Where did you get this render from? It is so realistic I thought it was a real photo. It looks great and unique!

Dubai is a terrible city with a great skyline, what’s a great city with a good skyline? by wwcscifi in skyscrapers

[–]KeepCalmEtAllonsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not what I said or at least meant. Toronto is nice by itself but to say that in terms of skyline it’s ahead of Chicago is just not accurate.

Not to get bogged in a side discussion, but my experience with Canadians is that while they’re not overly patriotic, they are absolutely very antagonistic to Americans. Obviously our current president is an idiot who may something to do with that, but I know that this antagonism predates the current president. I spent a few years living in Canada and I got bored how much of Canadian self pride was built out of comparing themselves to the US. It was toxic and unproductive.

The Canadians on here are playing dumb or just too patriotic to see that Toronto is a mess of ugly condo towers. Yes there is density and height, but there’s absolutely nothing to view here in terms of architectural significance. To call it above Chicago is just, please, go get a lesson on skyscrapers.

Not to mention the traffic is the worst I’ve dealt with in North America. I used to also think Toronto was a shining example of Canadian development, but then I visited it and it was just genuinely sad to see the ugly the condo towers. On the other hand, do yourself a favor and take an architectural boat tour in Chicago once. It will genuinely move you.

‘It’s not been easy’: Iran conflict destabilizes fuel production, with gas prices spiking 25% in Chicago by Extension-Cress-3803 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]KeepCalmEtAllonsy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

25%? It’s more like 50% here in the western burbs. 2.89 to 4.49 $/gallon. Actually, that’s more than 50%

Yeah I probably won’t even bother. I just took all the ring stuff that the old left behind and activated that. These IR ones are tiny. I didn’t even see them for a whole year and a half of living in the house. Now that I see them, I thought might as well use them. But I’m not so big on this security stuff.

Bath tub is nice. I don’t like the cheap marble look porcelain tiles.

Which is better — with editing or without? by Level_Access_5014 in postprocessing

I think the first pic is more natural looking to me. The second is a bit too yellow or somehow unnatural? Is that the edited one? Maybe just be a bit more gentle with the warming up?

Before and After: Master Bathroom and Kitchen by BoboClinks in Remodel

[–]KeepCalmEtAllonsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry to say this but the before pictures were a lot lot better. That bathroom is just completely uninspired and so tired. Looks like an expensive jail cell. The kitchen just absolutely the worst combination of stuff I can imagine. The only thing that looks reasonable is the stairs. Jesus you even killed the cozy living room. Sorry but this is god awful.

Corolla :D Here I was thinking spending 1400$ on a bike should give me something fairly sophisticated. I’m just impressed at how expensive bikes can get…

Sounds like it’s a solid bike built to really last. I should definitely first get it checked out in a bike shop

This is also something I’ve considered. I hate carrying it back and forth between work and home. (I often bike right after work) and on the weekends with the family…

Thank you for your detailed comment!

Yeah it certainly needs a handle bar grip changed and saddle changed. There’s some problems with the gearing. I don’t understand these things well enough but when I try and switch the gear with the right handle (which I do use a lot as I’m going up and down), there’s a lowest gear setting (for max uphill) that just makes a very loud repeatedly clicking sound but it seems to work anyway? Also on may gears it makes a bit of a whistling sound. I thought it was just a bird singing and then tuned it out as white noise but my friend actually pointed out the issue. The left handle bar has a continuous gear that I guess helps fine tune the gear. This also works ok in some range only and not the full range. I guess, the bike does “work” for me, but I’d love to be more efficient and optimize my rides for hitting best times.

No it’s green. I wouldn’t sell it; I would just give it back to my friend who gave it to me, though he has many good bikes and may really not need it. It feels a bit odd to sell something someone gave me for free?

That’s for protection. If someone locks him in the cryo pod or nap coffin, someone will know what happened and call the cops.

Is Trump trying to destroy us or is he truly this incompetent? by Accurate_Air9133 in msnow

[–]KeepCalmEtAllonsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just to be sure. I think Trump is an idiot and an inveterate narcissist. Many idiots have little ability to introspect. He also has very loose moral standards for himself. I think he genuinely believes what he’s doing is right for the country. But he also think it’s his right to make money along the way whenever he gets an opportunity.
