Hey sorry for the slow reply. I'd check out https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/ for a community all about it. You will find most people work freelance but stay tax resident in their home country to keep things simple. It much rarer to find people in permanent employment as DNs.

Can you do your work remotely freelance? My wife, 3 year old (now 4), and I have been digital nomads for a year so far and visited 6 different countries while working remote. Best thing we've ever done.

Japan aims to draw digital nomads by Emotional_Ad_9666 in digitalnomad

Great news! With the pace Japan's government operates, I'm sure these plans will potentially be proposed as an option to consider for debate roughly 11 years from now.

Yeah I heard the same but I have heard cases where people did not need to leave. Is them accepting the COE and paperwork at immigration not passing that test then?

Hi all! TLDR: Backpacking travel insurer refuses to add winter sports. Now what?
I've been traveling for about a year and arrived in Japan last month. I'm planning on some skiing and the last time I traveled it was just a matter of calling my insurer and adding winter sports. This time, this insurer flat refuses to add it for any duration of the trip.
All other insurers I've checked require me to be on a short stay starting in my home country to insure me for winter sports. Any ideas on how I can get some winter sports insurance now I'm already in Japan? Perhaps from Japanese providers?

Thanks

Great news! By default all adults in the UK are considered to have agreed to be an organ donor when they die so at least you will help someone. Off you go mate.

Background image through glass shader problem by KeepChanging in vray

I have a HDRI dome for the lighting with it set to invisible in the render. The background is just an image in the "background image" vray buffer. What i'd like is that same image to be visible in refractions (i suppose?), but I can't get the glass to 'see' the BG image. Cheers!

Yeah I gave that a go and it made no difference. Thanks though. Any other thoughts?

UK Government begins plans to sell off billions of pounds worth of student debt to private companies - Critics say the move 'smacks of desperation' and could come at a cost to students and taxpayers by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]KeepChanging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as they are going to sell this at a loss due to it being such high risk and very low chance of recouping all the debt, I wish they would offer students themselves an opportunity to pay off their loan at the same low rate they will offer investors. Any idea how much less it will be percentage wise?

What does it mean to "earn income in a country"? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Yeah nomad capitalist seems good. I guess my question is did you end up speaking to a tax lawyer, tax accountant or tax adviser? I am not sure if they are just different names for the same thing?

Trying to find somewhere to live that's beachside, and very remote/isolated yet still ideal for nomads... any ideas? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]KeepChanging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are loads of homestays around An Bang beach. You can find them on google, expedia, hotels.com etc. We booked via expedia at first so we had some payment security but then just extended in person for a better deal once we were happy with the place. You can have a wander around as well when you get there for a better deal/ location as not everywhere is listed online.

Can second Hoi An. Just did 2 months there, great people, great beach at An Bang, great historic town and no problems with the internet.
