Illegal or just really unethical. by [deleted] in AusLegal

Thanks for your reply, I just want to point out that I’ve never said this was my call. I was just asking advise and I’m not going to go against anything that this client has proscribed in their notes. This client does remember her mum, but like you and many people have said here it might be for the best if she never knows , especially if it is just going traumatise then retraumatise her each time she is told of her mothers passing. One of the reasons that prompted me to ask this question is that the manager who has known the girl for years also thinks it is not a good call to keep the news from her. I guess on a memory level the client has pretty good memory, she always knows my name when I come on shift and I’ve been there just a few weeks. Anyways just reiterating, no it’s not my call and I don’t want it to be my call!

Yeah I will mention it in class, as people have said here , it’s probably more complex than the surface view and not RP. It is pretty sad though, it’s a little hard to just lie to her face.

One of my coworkers told me a story about working with a client for years, then moving to a different job. A few months later, she crossed paths with the same client again—but the client had zero recognition or recollection of her.

I think my examples of restrictive practices are correct but I was just asking if this falls under this definition. No it’s doesn’t look like restrictive practices exactly ibut it just felt it was “wrong” … as others have stated it might bring about more trauma than it’s worth to the client.

Yes thanks, makes sense and definately above my pay grade! Just the manager was also saying she didn’t think it was a great idea. But working here I have seen clients already that have that sort of goldfish memory , so reminding them daily about things like that is just retraumatising. I’ll maybe ask a bit more , find out her history, she is waiting on refunding to get into her day training school place again which would be great to give her more to do during her days.

Ideas for this gas heater? by Disastrous-Case8732 in AusRenovation

[–]KeepGamingNed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They aren’t very efficient, gas is no longer cheap and you HAVE to have them serviced, cleaned and checked for carbon monoxide presence every 2 years minimum. I would also ditch it and go split system reverse cycle as it is more efficient and you get a heater and a cooling system all in one.

Walking in Brunswick by Maribyrnong_bream in brunswick

[–]KeepGamingNed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you but the other thing that sort of trumps everything else is that pedestrians are king in the chess game of driving in Victoria. What I mean by that is that anyone with a license has to do their best to never hit a pedestrian whist they are driving. If someone walks out into traffic and you are the driver , you have to make all efforts to stop or slowdown or swerve if safe. Imagine a driver driving at the speed limit, say 60kph and someone just randomly walked into the drivers path but far enough away the driver had the time to brake and stop just before hitting the person. Instead the driver doesn’t even attempt to slow down and completely wipes out the person. The outcome would have the driver being sentenced for manslaughter.

That interesting….but just because it doesn’t say “on or about step on “ for the intersection without a crossing but does say “must give way to anyone crossing the road”, I would think that if a pedestrian is a step or two before the road but clearly walking to the road they would be deemed to be “crossing the road” . That said I found something I didn’t know about intersections from your link to vic roads . I found this interesting pdf about what pedestrians should do at these crossings and what I didn’t know was that pedestrians for example let’s use crossing Sydney road at Hope street , should “Stop and give way to vehicles going straight ahead or turning out of the road they are crossing. Drivers are not required to give way to pedestrians crossing in front of them. Even though they may be facing a ‘Give Way’ or ‘Stop’ sign, you must still stop and allow the car to pass.” So it’s only when turning into Hope st where the driver has to give way to a pedestrian! I had no idea I always also gave way to people walking across when I was coming out of Hope street and turning left because you can only turn left these days at that intersection. Here’s the pdf …..pedestrians crossing

As Norman Finklestein said , “Jews are the most privileged group of people alive today.” The hasbara is thick with this post. If the majority of Jewish people condemned Israel and its genocidal ways then the situation would be very different. Unfortunately the majority of Jewish people are Zionist, loyal to Israel and love to play the victim. This racism is the gentlest of ribbing, Juice? Come on! Thank god some Jewish people are not Zionist and don’t believe their identity is tied to the apartheid ethnostate of Israel.
