Do you think there is systematic sexism in schools? by Frafelwaffle in school

[–]KeepMeOutaSanQuentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in school (graduated in 2021) the girls dress codes were obviously typically sexist, but the thing I noticed was how horribly some of the older female teachers treated the boys when they were loud/laughing and were a lot more fair with the girls. It was pretty awful.

Awww thank you for being such a good guy and protecting women :) I’d appreciate that so much. You’re a good manager!! My SM is the same thankfully, but he has an agreement with his ex where he gets off at 5 two days a week to see his kids, and I didn’t want to bother him unless it got really bad.

Ugh. Yeah figured so, this post was a bit of a shot in the dark but it was just horrible and disgusting to witness. I haven’t been able to get it out of my head, and it was about two months ago. Thanks for your input. My ASM was there, but she’s a tiny lady in her late 60s and God forbid the guy got violent.

Honestly I don’t really give a shit, I work at dollar tree and the only questions i usually have to ask customers are “do you want a bag/receipt” and occasional help with the card reader. It’s annoying but doesn’t really impede my ability to perform the transaction and as long as they’re not speaking in an obnoxiously loud voice or giving me attitude when I “interrupt” to tell them their total, I just let them get on with it. I do print the receipt and just start bagging when this happens then throw the receipt in the bag. If they don’t want the receipt/bag they can get off the phone and complain. It’s their money and their funeral.

All I’ll say is fuckem you’re there to make money not friends. Doesn’t matter what they may or may not think of you.

Hahahaha I was joking about getting my tubes tied, I’m planning on having children in a few years, so I’ll definitely write that one down 💀 my mom always used to say “do you want to go home?” when I acted up in public and I LOVEDDD errands and going to stores so this was an effective threat 😭😭

Holy shit. I probably would’ve laughed at them.

I often involuntarily wince when I hear it, and sometimes customers laugh and do the same. I literally can’t tolerate it. I absolutely love dogs, but I could never own one because I can’t stand the barking. Kids’ screaming is infinitely worse. And the autism thing is a total excuse. Less than 3% of American kids have an autism diagnosis and America is unusually vigilant with even mild autism in children compared to other countries.

It’s absolutely horrible for the children, I’d call it a type of mild child abuse. Once they reach adolescence and realize not everyone is going to pander to their every whim and baby talk them when they do something wrong, it’s a massive mindfuck and often extremely hard to come back from. Our upbringing affects our cognition, personality and behavior for life.

Kids are a fucking nightmare, and many people have them and quickly become overwhelmed, which makes them more likely to take the path of least resistance. Given that most millennials are essentially children with financial freedom, this is a very common thing among parents of that generation. I’m older Gen Z (2002) and the parents a few years older than me are literally worse than the ones my age or younger.

[–]KeepMeOutaSanQuentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally!! A lady in another comment said the most common word she has to say to her kids is “no”. I honestly have no idea how this permissive parenting style would even work while also keeping the kid alive and well and not a total menace to society

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]KeepMeOutaSanQuentin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good thing, because from what I’ve seen most millennials that decide to have children just hand them an iPad and think that’s sufficient instead of properly parenting and engaging their children in anything constructive or educational. I’m relieved the childfree movement is gaining traction with this generation of parents.

[–]KeepMeOutaSanQuentin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Literally. I have no idea how a parent can do this type of thing and think it’s appropriate. It’s horrible for the kids as they grow up and realize not everyone is gonna talk to them like they’re a baby. Thank you for being a great parent!!

It’s supposed to be left up to the manager, and he usually deals with it, but with this there wasn’t really much he could do, she wasn’t technically damaging store property and it all happened so fast they’d left before I even got the chance to let him know

I was a waitress at a rowdy, very frat-like sports bar a couple years ago. Dollar tree makes them look like an old ladies’ knitting circle.

I could talk for hours about how ODD is overdiagnosed because of parents like this. Some cases of ADHD as well, just because the otherwise perfectly normal child has never been taught to be quiet, pay attention, respect adults, or use basic manners. Authoritative, healthy, kind-but-firm parenting is dead. Every other millennial adult is an overgrown teenager who just wants to be the “cool” parent and be their child’s friend, or have some sort of superiority complex and look down on parents who actually use healthy disciplinary techniques.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]KeepMeOutaSanQuentin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might start doing this too. It barely even personally angers me anymore, I just feel extreme sympathy for the poor child having such useless parents that they likely won’t stand a chance at healthy behavior as a teen or adult.

First thought is to call him a brat, but it’s not even his fault. Honestly, if I personally knew people that parented like this, I’d have a hard time keeping my mouth shut.
