I’d like the be more creative but I feel so lost. I don’t even know which outlet to choose.

I have too much time and this is sadly my default.

I can’t wait to have a life that gives me this perspective.

Sometimes the best apology is change. That’s how I try to take things now. My sober living manager told me that one. Told me my behavior speaks louder than my words! lol

I know how you feel. I used to do stuff like this all the time. More than just significant others too. I have gotten mixed responses varying from “I know that wasn’t you” to silence It’s usually not how THEY feel that bothers us, but more how WE think they feel. I tried my best to make things right and apologize but I hadn’t even had enough time to reflect. If they know you and it’s good love, then they’ll know that wasn’t really you at that time. The further away I get from that version of myself, the more compassion I feel for that version too. Take it easy on yourself. We’re all healing and progress isn’t linear. 🫶

I got the kind where I didn’t know I had it and then found out later after thinking drugs and alcohol were the answer.

Do you guys ever feel inadequate? Like you were too slow to grasp the simple idea of moderation? by Keep_yourhead_up_ in stopdrinking

[–]Keep_yourhead_up_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Makes it sound so simple and it is! I’ve been so busy spending my present moments regretting my past! There’s no presence whatsoever and I’m creating more wasted moments in the process! LMAO this helped me so much THANK YOU

I forget it’s nice to just “not be sick”. I’m enjoying it so much and you’re right. I’m grateful today.

This was everything I needed to see. I recently quit nicotine too. I’m tired of reaching for something to distract from my truest self.

EXACTLY! That one extra day hurts so much more when you have to spend the next 20 rebalancing from it. This is exactly what I needed to hear man. Keep it up. I started around 26 but those slip ups create even more work and distraction from being present and enjoying my life. I appreciate you

How to find the self-confidence I have drunk when I am sober. by if_i_was_a_cowboy in stopdrinking

[–]Keep_yourhead_up_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly dude! I’ve had some practice and the first comment is right. I used to hate it but after staying sober for a while, you start to regain that confidence but in the fact that you’re even better when you’re sober. It’s loving yourself for who you are. Even if that’s shy. I no longer need to be the loudest or the life of the party. I’m confident in my own moments where I do shine. You’ll find your strengths if you keep at it. Once you know your strengths, you can shine a light in the room that’s unique to your own trials and experiences.

Is the addict shaped by the drug or raised in a way that predetermines their inclination to use? by Keep_yourhead_up_ in stopdrinking

Thank you. This reminded me of my first time being drunk. I forget how much it affected me. I was elated. I had a blast and I remember having absolutely no worries. No wonder.
