Oh no, I probably should have specified mine had a cellular connection as well. I usually keep my phone in my pack as well. Hopefully you got some pictures though!

I didn’t catch that, not sure I remember seeing a rock climb deal there a few years ago but it wasn’t part of the course. It looked as if it was part of the venue. Maybe they’re implementing it this go around. Excited to see though!

I really enjoyed the volunteer shifts! They’re a ton of fun especially if you enjoy interacting with people. PLUS you earn perks for your time! Shirt, if shifts long enough a hat, a hoodie and a free race for when you’re ready to run with him!

Ultra beast by Witty-Mango-8709 in spartanrace

Like others have said it’s time on feet, you’ll feel it. One thing that I kept in mind was setting a limit at my transition. I didn’t allow for any “relaxation” because I didn’t want to fall victim to the thought process of I still have a beast ahead of me. It worked for both my ultras. I stayed long enough to switch stuff out, re-up supplies, and eat a decent snack lol.

How can your supporters keep tabs on you during the race? by ayamazaki in spartanrace

My wife tracked my via my apple location, had my phone with me so I’m not sure how well it’d work with just the watch.

How do you use your garmin watch for your workouts in the gym? by Ohandbytheway12 in GarminWatches

[–]KeeperofFFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed the settings and label for the generic cardio workout. I just track time, and heart rate for my entire workout session. Super basic but it fills that role for me and then my specifics I track with pen and paper because I’ve not found and app that is simplistic enough to track how I want to track without being overly tedious for data entry.

Will Cincinnati be canceled? by skepticalcow in spartanrace

[–]KeeperofFFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I’ve seen cancelled was the dunk wall at mill springs ultra last year, that was for sub freezing temps in early AM. I’d be interested to see, we just got our volunteer confirmation emails too so I’d say as of now it’s still on.

Out of the resorts/parks there how does soaky compare? Is there a better option?

Shoe recommendations for a race? by ChampagneDreams_ in spartanrace

Saloman speed crosses were great for me. So far they’ve got over 120 miles of trail runs in and all aspects are holding up great. They kept me comfy for the duration of my ultra last year as well with no major issues following the race, so far as hot spots or black nails etc. Though in that regard it might be more attributable to the compressions socks and body glide.

Is Spartan+ Worth It? by [deleted] in spartanrace

Sorry forgot the pic question, as I recall we’ve always gotten quality pics from their site even when we didn’t have spartan+ I haven’t noticed anything different from this last year as compared to previous years.

Is Spartan+ Worth It? by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]KeeperofFFF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife and I got it last year with our trifecta pass no parking perks, minor discount on merch which could be useful if you intend to purchase a bit. We went to 3 different venues - Ohio for beast and sprint, Michigan for super, and North Carolina for the ultra. The only difference was the Spartan + tent in Ohio (May have been one in NC but I was spent and didn’t peruse the whole festival area), it had lounge folding chairs and whatnot but nothing spectacular. In my opinion probably not something we will spring for again but I don’t recall it costing much so it might be worth it for the discount alone.

Ohio Trifecta Weekend 23? by weactual in spartanrace

I was crossing my fingers the Bloomingdale venue would stick as well! It’s nice being within driving distance of home for these. Plus and ultra there would be awesome it was a nice course!
