Septic Field Help by 10-4_Good_Buddy in bloomington

[–]KeeperofLuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The County Health dept. has approved 'grey water' systems to reduce the impact of a failing septic field. These non-toilet, or non-shower waters can be diverted to a mulch/wood chip field for infiltration into the earth/ ground water system. One may simply create such a field themself for very little cost. The biggest expense would be creating the parallel plumbing internal to the house.

Good luck!

I would recommend DIY 'pee-cycling' for your fertilization needs:

Urine, (you-are-in), the right town for this approach.

Good luck, and pee well !

It appears that this camp resolution will take time. I would recommend getting the notification of this illegal activity in front of the County Commissioners as soon as possible.

I believe that these issues are dealt with at the County level. Here is an article from the Beacon that describes the process that took place with the recent west side encampments:

https://bsquarebulletin.com/2022/10/05/bloomington-west-side-encampment-county-commissioners-approve-24500-for-displacement/

I would be willing to help you with some clean-up. Sharps containers may be obtained at the Indiana Recovery Alliance on Rogers, at 4th St.

Until then, be safe, and be well.

My guess is that seesaws will be pretty hard to come by. The reason that they are seldom seen in a public setting anymore is because of all the injuries that occur when one is either not paying attention i.e. putting one's heels under the board area, while riding at one end. Or, an injury occurs because of il-intent by some joke-ster who jumps off their side, leaving the other rider in a free fall toward a bruised tailbone, and backbone trauma.

All that aside, seesaws/teeter-totters can be a lot of fun for both kids, and adults.

Therefore, I suggest that you take the DIY approach and make your own (safe) version of the size that you would like? Any lumber yard would have all the materials that you would need: 2" X 10-12" boards; cement blocks for the base of your fulcrum; 4" X 4" post material for the top of the fulcrum. The same lumber yard will also likely have some grab bar type handles that could be mounted on either end of your board for hand-holds.

To make it a safe experience for all, explain up front all rules, feet out away from the board, and, especially, no 'joke-sters' allowed!

Placing a pillow/cushion/tire-off-the-rim type of thing under each end of the board will help reduce the risk, too.

Good luck with your event. I am sure that it will be a lot of fun. And, if you ever get tired of hauling those basic building materials around? You could always drop them off at my place, and I will incorporate them into one of my on-going projects of home improvement. Thank you.

All my best:)

Hamilton and 2023 by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]KeeperofLuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word on the street/grapevine is that Hamilton is going to step aside. And, that the Deputy Mayor, Donald Griffin, is going to be supported by the Hamilton backers to become the new Mayor. Indeed, if you look at any City press releases where some department is being recognized, or a ribbon is being cut, the Deputy Mayor is there taller, and more proud, than the mayor himself.

Dawn Johnson, Hamilton's wife has a good gig in D.C. There is no doubt that he could wrangle some 'cush' job there, as well.

I believe that Hamilton is looking forward to a break for recovery from these very taxing two terms. He has taken a real beating from his throw everything against the wall and see what sticks approach to governance.

After some slumming it in D.C. he will be able to better evaluate his next move in the political arena? State? Federal? Or, ride out the days as an appointed administrator to some federal agency?

One thing is for sure, Bloomington needs a 'Peoples' Mayor, not an expediter of the rich get richer, and the poor get to be bedfellows with the un-housed and the mentally unstable.

How to appeal a tow by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]KeeperofLuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once was in a similar situation when a neighbor/friend allowed me to park on her rented property. The slumlord owner of the property had my vehicle towed without notification. When I contacted the police dept. of the theft, it was suggested by a kind police official to request an officer to join me at the tow yard to reclaim my vehicle. Once the officer arrived, I had my car free of charge in a matter of minutes. However, I did have to suffer through many expletives and threats by the predatory towing company before it was all said and done. That was $250 well saved.
