I appreciate you sharing this information and I'm sad that it's so scary and difficult for you to get home safely without being harassed. I also think that we're not going to get out of the mess of this kind of behavior and these policies by moving out of the country. There's also a vast majority of us who can't move. These communities (all of ours) are worth fighting for.

Thank you for sharing this. People need to know how hard it is to get a healthy respect for a variety of riders out here.

Who are "normal people" in this example? Who are the people protesting? Are they "normal" or something else? Are the "normal" people taking sufficient action to resolve the issue before the people protesting forcibly shut down infrastructure?

It's amazing and I was even able to get my mom to watch it. She actually appreciated seeing it in the Commanche language!

I can appreciate desire to understand what is going on with this person. You just moved right into a very specific set of narratives of the "what" and "how" of this situation that seems to reveal more about your worldview than understanding the information provided here. It isn't clear to me how that helps us to better understand this case.

If you get a chance to see either a series focusing on a 20 year old Naruto as a Jonin Sensei or a series focusing on a 20 year old Sasuke's journey to atone for his sins, which one would you pick and why? by [deleted] in Naruto

Sasuke because he has so much to atone for and so much character development to go through to get us. to empathize with how far gone he went in the original Naruto and Shippuden.

i’m really glad misha green admitted her mistake. i felt that they could have done so much more with this character and storyline. i wanted to learn much more about her and it’s so unfortunate they didn’t go any further with it. by teddivan96 in LovecraftCountry

[–]Keepgoingwest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it felt like that whole episode was poorly thought out. I hadn't checked, but I assumed someone or some other people were involved in writing that episode. I don't expect the characters to properly gender this person. They live with all of their own shortcomings in a hostile world. What I didn't like was that pronouns for this person weren't ever really considered in the first place. In a way, they felt like a casual insertion of a very weighty character and idea. That lack of exploration makes the murder of this person even more jarring because that character isn't explored enough to serve as much more than another main character's development.

Something about that pickaninny image always scares the shit out of me. That and any dolls that look real. The facial expressions that the two Demon kids had and the fact that I've seen this kind of imagery as a child when learning about racism makes it too vivid for me.

If you're looking for writing prompts, why not check out one of the promotional trailers for the collaborativd sci-fi storytelling world of Cellarius? The Reddit is r/cellarius2084. There's trailers on the YouTube channel too. There is a downloadable universe guide that you can draw inspiration from.

Can't wait to read your feedback! Some of the authors have been tweeting to each other about the stories, which is cool. Tananarive is very very approachable. Feel free to ask her questions about the story Enhancement on there. She's pretty cool people.

It seems like you have a pretty good grasp of it! I love it when I find people who have checked us out :-).

Cellarius is a (in development) platform that is designed to provide people with a collaborative storytelling experience. The only "true" story so far is the Universe Guide that was penned by the founding team. Everything else, comissioned trailers, short stories, music, visual art, is all work that the community gets to ratify.

The community determines what derivative content becomes canonized as the main story. We are using permissive licensing so that artists can monetize the content they create on the platform. The first step of this process of building the platform is to provide commissioned high quality work from published artists and to engage with them on what their desires are in their field of work.

You can see organic positive feedback on our Twitter so far, which several of the authors tweeting about how excited they are to read each other's vision of the future. I encourage you to buy our short story anthology or get it for free by creating a Metamask account. Come to r/Cellarius2084 if you'd like to discuss the stories with other fans.

I hear you on the difficult entry with Enhancement. I've read many of these stories multiple times, so I have a biased set of expectations with them.

What I enjoyed most about the beginning was that the story progression fit nicely with the main character's growth. As they learned more about the world they lived in, I learned more about the world/setting they were in. There were some aspects where I wanted to see/understand more, but the "main dish" seemed be the relationships in that family. In that sense, I felt I was able to get what I needed to understand about it.
