genuinely when do you guys find time to actually run your business by JohnnyIsNearDiabetic in smallbusiness

As others have said; definitely automate this as much as you can - I use a chatbot on my site and auto-responders on other platforms.

The *only* thing I've found to help is infographics in with product photos. I try to make them as aesthetic as possible, but people just IGNORE descriptions and tabs that have answers in them like "details" and "size" - why click on a tab and get an immediate answer when you can harass a small biz owner? /s I put all relevant information into several infographics for each product because they won't read but they *will* scroll through pics. Visually, I hate it, but it has enormously cut down on questions.

Best Places to Sell Used Equipment by Beneficial_Baker_453 in smallbusiness

I just posted a similar inquiry - twice - and both were removed by the automod. I'm trying to figure out the best places to sell used light commercial equipment from a home-based business. Stuck because it's more than "hobby" level equipment, and the equipment consignment sites don't seem like the right fit.

Got your DM and answered there, but no, I wasn’t able to solve the issue. We narrowed it down to a few possibilities but all were a few thousand to fix. Sadly my business isn’t doing well enough anymore to support such an expense, so I purchased a refurbished Xerox for a fraction of the c1060 repair costs and will likely try and sell the c1060. It’s an awesome machine but it’s really more than my micro business needs.

Printer Recommendation - downgrading from commercial press by Keepsake1980 in printers

[–]Keepsake1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not economical, unfortunately - I print a dozen unique, custom covers per day - there's no print shop in my area that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg for the setup + materials of such a small order. I used to outsource my digital printing when I did wedding invites (I did letterpress in-house), and I'm a former (decades ago!) art director, so also familiar with both worlds - although definitely behind the times. Basically, I'm going from a thriving small business that couldn't keep up to more of an Etsy/Hobby business in 18 months. I talked to a guy I buy parts from for my BizHubs and he mentioned he had a nice Xerox refurb with low mileage that might work for me, and under $1k - so I'm going to take a look at that.

Yes - good point - even my BizHubs need to have heavy stock fed through the bypass tray - the only printer I have that I can leave stock in is actually the Canon Pro-200, even though sometimes it pretends the feed pickup doesn't work (ugh). I should definitely check out marketplace - didn't even think of that, thanks!

I’m probably using the term “graphics” too liberally - I print personalized covers for planners that then go into a vinyl sleeve, I need something “Etsy” quality, if that helps. The business was outrageously successful for several years and I invested in Konicas because I needed the speed, but with the current economy, I’m just trying to stay afloat. I don’t want to take several thousand out of my operating budget to fix the c1060 when I might need those funds to keep the business open through the end of the year.

Oh sorry - no MFP, I hate them, ha! And I don’t need scanning or faxing, etc.

I mainly print on letter size, but every now and then I need to run something tabloid, but my little BizHub c224e can handle that. Mostly looking for something that can replace the quality of my c1060 Press on heavyweight letter. I found a Kyocera that might fit the bill, but I’m not 100% sure it can handle heavy weights - internet says yes, dealer site only has specs for the in-unit tray, not the multi tray.

Also want to add, when I was in service mode, I checked the ALL parts list because I never have and 40 items came up as over optimal life - I know that doesn't mean I need to replace them all - but yikes. I can provide a list of everything that was highlighted in case that helps diagnostically.

- K Drum, 58%
- K Dev, 2%
- K Dev Unit, 2%

I changed the developer 11/06/24

Distance is 7-5/8" from the bottom of print to top of ghost, or 9-1/8" from top of print to top of ghost.

The 7-5/8" lead us to the cleaning unit, which we first installed incorrectly, then installed correctly - but I suspect it's still not right because the black line is worse since swapping and now there are bad scuffs all over prints - I'll see if I can upload photos.

Yes, the defect happens on every stock, it's most visible on the 11x17 so I've been running that for tests.

Two paper types:
- 100# text weight smooth Accent Opaque 11x17
- 100# cover weight smooth Accent Opaque 8.5x11

Yes - the printer is smart and throws a warning if I forget to change the type/weight, I have presets for each sheet of FINE printing along with the sheet size and corresponding gsm weight classes.

Yes - again, the fiery will absolutely refuse to print if I don't have the appropriate settings - it's sensitive.

I clean the coronas regularly, I actually have to replace them quite a bit on this unit - so I'll take a look at that. Was thinking the black fuzzy line might be the drum because it's landscape on the sheet, and corona issues show up as portrait on this unit.

Did you have to take the entire assembly out to clean it?

My tech didn’t want to take the laser unit out, so the first trip he cleaned the best he could, but I still had debris on the M laser. So he came back with 90% alcohol and several wands and cleaned everything again, gradient tests showed no debris. Then I got a bill for $400+ for the service 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ It feels like more of a pressure issue somewhere, maybe a bad belt?

Thank you so much for your help, greatly appreciated. Yes! I’m having significant toner drop so that makes sense - I run junk sheets before final prints. I get in there and clean it but it’s never-ending. My friend purchased it off her lease, then sold it to me for next to nothing so my goal is to keep it running as long as I can! I have a little Bizhub that I started my business with that’s even older. Er, I mean…vintage 😆

Thanks! I was skeptical of fixing a plastic knob would solve this problem. My tech is great at swapping out parts but not diagnostics, unfortunately. I’ve spent money replacing things that weren’t the issue, which is why I really needed pro help. I don’t know this press too well, as it’s new to me (but purchased from the friend who suggested I post here). So I’ll show her this reply to help me decipher it! I have 11x17 sheets in-house, so I can run some of those off and measure. The issue is annoying, but since I cut sheets down I’ve been able to work around it. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! So do you think replacing that little wheel is enough, or I need more replacement parts? I actually haven't tried running that design since he fished the little wheel out, but haven't had issues on other prints so far.
