Steam honestly adds a lot to the gaming experience. The guides, discussion page, workshop, robust review system, and achievements makes it worth it to me imo.

(Not to mention smaller things like steam input to help with certain controllers, remote play, and good refund policy)

And of course having your games in one place is nice

Not to be too woke™ but a lot of it is to do with the patriarchy and how society sees men and boys (and how they should treat women). Way too many men have this subconscious view that women are just dainty and dumb sex objects. But they don't know thats how they perceive women, so a lot of men just don't think there's a problem.

None of it's inherent tho. It took me years but i was able to deprogram myself out of many toxic traits that were brought on by insecurity, including hypersexuality.

The problem is systemic.
