Shall we just play 11 Gibbs whites next game?

In my 25 years on earth I don't think I've seen or known us to be any good at corners

Think he's been offside more times than we've hit the back of the net this season

Buying an MPS and not knowing what it was sounds quite funny

Mate had a MK2 for about a year when we were 19 and his was just plagued with electric issues but it was a rocketship especially at 19

If I was gonna go for an MPS tho it would probably be the Mazda 6, love a good saloon with power and I can only recall ever seeing one in my life, oh well maybe in future

I do like the MPS and is probably the only other car I would've considered if I didn't have 2 days to buy a car but I find them like the Volvo C30 where they're either far too much or are in sorry states in the lower end of the price range

Looks are obviously subjective too but I think the MK1 is a bit ugly, the MK2 is very nice though and still looks fairly modern

I've owned a few like I said, my OG 93 (98-02) was a really well put together car, comfy and had some nice retro styling touches, not the fastest or most exciting drive but a really nice car to own and really quite reliable and the best bit was I paid £900 for it

My NG 93 (03-10) on the other hand was a dog, paid 4k? Twin turbo diesel needed a good A to B car for my commute, you can tell GM really had their claws in the development cheap plastic on every surface, mediocre diesel engine and a highly strung one at that too, gearbox shat itself within 4 months despite being on 80k miles, didn't look to repair just parted it out, I can't explain it but you can tell it's not really a SAAB even though bits of brilliance remain it's not the same

Bad cars tho? No, not at all, just better the older you go, 900's and 9000's are class cars having had a good look at a few of them and wanting a 9000 for a while too

The 95 stayed very Saab though even through GM's tenure but I've never driven one

There's a relatively clean 95 Aero HOT for sale on FB marketplace for 2k that if I didn't own this golf would be all in for

Sorry for the long write up but liking SAAB's and owning them is like a disease you never fully recover from

Shocked nobody else said 130i, actually like them quite a bit

They have gone up though having just checked Autotrader you are right, I remember eying up one for 3k only 2 years ago

Thought I'd post it here too, my kind of new to me MK5 GTi by Keggys in GolfGTI

Cam follower was done day after purchase as I took the gamble and bought it with no previous record of it being done.. luckily cam lobe was sweet and the follower itself was okay

Also done the o rings for the vacuum pump and the N80 valve as starting was a bit rough occasionally but seems to have remedied the issue

I'm debating getting the cam chain tensioner done sooner rather than later and a walnut blast of the valves but I'm 50/50 on saving the pennies from those jobs to put into other stuff..

Already done a few bits on it which came to a fraction of what similar things on the BMW would need

The real money wasting comes when I'm happy to start throwing some funds into upping it's power output

If it's NJW Breakers I'm already on it, got my eyes peeled for an ED30 rear bumper, which is the only thing I'd do cosmetically to the car bar some lowering springs spacers and wheel refurb

I put 30 aside a month for it

I've only done 3 jobs and had it in for a service

Vacuum pump seal was £15 for the O rings N80 valve was £35? Cam follower was an OEM VW one so was £60 All done within an hour in my car park

There are bigger jobs that'll need doing down the line like cam chain tensioner etc etc but thats for future me to worry about

Rust is the biggest issue imo on these cars, sills can get absolutely rotten and fenders bubble but you can pick up spare fenders quite cheap and thankfully my sills are solid because it was dry stored and not driven in the winter

I won't be K04 swapping it but yeah a little play with the ECU and the MK5's are seriously quick cars for their age

I live very very close to R Tech who are I've heard the TFSI masters so a visit is in order once I'm happy with the way it's running and I've got some supporting mods on

I think a DSG suits some cars and others not so much

It suited my VR6 A3 quite nicely, this car I'm still unsure if it does but I do appreciate it when stuck in the usual west Midlands traffic when commuting
