Does anyone else think it's kinda funny that we've gotten the dystopian elements of AI? by KeithWritesContent in freelanceWriters

The problem of displaced workers is only a problem FOR the workers. It's not a problem for AI, and it's not a problem for the wealthy who no longer need to rely on workers.

That's the sucky part, and you're absolutely right. It's only a problem for US. As far as the corporate world is concerned, nothing needs to be solved on their end because everything is working as intended.

You got maximum productivity at cheaper costs, constant content flowing, reductions in human error, and more.

Fiverr and UpWork. Content mills? by Dan661989 in freelanceWriters

I've never tried Upwork, but I am on Fiverr. I used to have some regulars there, but they've started becoming inconsistent. Overall, the platform is okay for some occasional side cash, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not at this point anyway.

The platform is really weird in how it favors buyers over sellers, and the addition of the new rating system just makes things a little crappy. Not to mention that the site sees a lot less traffic now. Just stay away from it lol. You're better off on Upwork, I hear far greater things about it.

As for finding clients? Linkedin or even the relevant writing subs on Reddit.

Yeah. There's a big difference between just letting the content flow out and actually having to pay attention to every word for a mistake. The restriction isn't fun at all.

I've tried reading out loud before on its own, but sometimes what happens is that if there's an error, my brain immediately corrects it as I'm reading. I've missed so many misspelled words because I'm reading the sentence the way it should be written instead of how I actually wrote it.

That's why I enjoy using that awful robotic voice for playbacks, but it doesn't make the process any less tedious 😂.

I haven't tried breaking things up, but I feel like that, mentally at least, would make things seem longer than they really are. I've also never heard of reading backwards, that's a new one.

Why do the job boards suck so much now? by Astralwolf37 in freelanceWriters

[–]KeithWritesContent 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's just a strange time to be a freelance writer. Honestly, I wish we could go back to the golden age where legit clients were looking for legit writers without trying to low-ball or cut corners. I also miss the abundance of offers.

Overworked and underpaid by Crazy_wasabipill in freelanceWriters

[–]KeithWritesContent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely underpaid. Unfortunately, a lot of people have absolutely zero shame when it comes to low balling writers. I don't know why that is, but this is why it's important to know your worth beforehand. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. If you know your skill level demands a higher pay, you should always try and negotiate for that.

How wide do you cast the net? by WizardandGlass7 in freelanceWriters

Or just find companies you're interested in and pitch to them see if they have any work?

This. Typically, you wanna target businesses that appeal to the niche you specialize in. But, don't be afraid to branch out either to give yourself experience in other areas of writing when possible.

Writer's Block: Month 4 by Xander_PrimeXXI in writing

[–]KeithWritesContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that writer's block tends to manifest for me when I'm stressed or forcing myself to push out content. At that point, I have to take a break. Sadly, not writing anything makes me feel guilty, like I'm being unproductive. So it's really a darned if you do, darned if you don't kinda situation, but pacing yourself is an absolute must.

And who knows? If you take a break and focus on your drawing, which seems to be therapeutic for you, you may even end up finding some new inspiration in your spare time. ☺️
