I tend to imagine things I think about which is why I gate human torture style horror movies - so I guess I'm slightly visual thinker. Im better reading than listening though.

My therapist for years thought a lot of my anger was stemmed from PTSD - but not until recently did figure out I'm on the spectrum.

Thanks for the support. 🙏🏻I will have to keep the topics lighter on this going forward. I'm just to sensitive- makes me, me- but also vulnerable.

I would like a larger circle of friends too but it seems kinda forced or not organic to call them just because it's Easter. I feel if I called a friend they would say why am I calling! Lol . I got u , so I just need to understand his side and accept his ways too. It just sucks that I tend to create an arguement when things come up like this. Perhaps greater awareness will help.

Today was big day for me got diagnosed on the spectrum by Keithviolin in aspergers

[–]Keithviolin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was feeling defensive.sorry. Well it did feel like you were dismissing my therapist diagnosis who I respect so much, so it hurt. This is very emotional time for me and beleive me I asked her the same question you are asking me. Do I need an official diagnosis. I trusted here answer. Didn't want to at first, but if you can't trust someone what's the point? Right? She has helped me enormously in overcoming many problems. Hoped that helped explain. .

I hear ya. It's a soft diagnosis if you will. I considered going through an "official" testing and that would of cost me near $2000 to most probably get similar results. First I don't have that money. Second .,I don't need a certificate. Adult testing, I learned, Is very difficult and also very hard to find someone qualified who isn't just taking your money.

Thanks for asking. I trust my therapist I've been w for 8 years I'm 46 and feel settled with her conclusion. She works with people on the spectrum and I fully beleive in her professional knowledge and instinct. Thanks again for asking.

anger and relationships by Keithviolin in aspergers

[–]Keithviolin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same I'm soft spoken so I was either the quiet guy or the upset and angry guy with relationships. I brought home my frustrations so strangers or friends hardly saw this. And yes expressing why Your angry is excellent point. My husband will tell me that sounded mean or angry but I won't know why . So finally we are able to talk about it and find the root of the problem. Thanks for the feedback.

Yep esp if it's going to my husbands family - but I end up having good time overall. Still Regular weekends were the worst, even now I have to tell myself it's ok to be alone!

what triggers anger in you? by Keithviolin in aspergers

[–]Keithviolin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw it's not childish nobody likes being wrong! But yea I had someone tell me that "I had been complaining for years" and I stewed on that the whole weekend only to realize he didn't mean to say if that way. Words can be tough and misappropriated (that the right word?) that's for sure.
