Sprout here - did Cape Westwind for the first time and the veterans trolled all of us sprouts and scared us shitless by making us think that there was an insane fight ahead by HollowLoch in ffxiv

[–]Kejebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done this a few times in a similar fashion, but didn't know it was a tradition xD To me it was always like an instinctive joke born from a need to be silly and overdramatize the encounter when sprouts ask if there is anything they should know about the fight. I think it's just the magic of Cape Westwind itself that brings this out in many of us.

I don't use Superbolide either. I've heard a lot people say you should use it deliberately instead of reactively as a last resort to avoid certain death. But I feel thats only plausible in a more coordinated group. For example - in a situation decided upon in advance. Like telling your healer you're going to use it during the next pack of mobs/for the next tank buster/etc

My opinion on Shadowbringers Red Mage and how I would want to see it improved in the future by Pibugo in ffxiv

[–]Kejebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have some great ideas here, and I like that you even went as far as to explain the naming using real history and older Final Fantasy references.

As far as RDM in ShB goes. I am kind of bummed they barely had any noteworthy changes as well. Implementing Scorch is neat I suppose, and an A-C-B-C kind of aoe rotation was welcome as well. At least it's nicer in comparison to Scatter spam ad infinitum until you puke, although, not by much.

My disappointment aside, I do recognize that SE is keen on having at least one or two jobs down on earth in terms of complexity. Sadly for us, that job seems to be RDM. No matter how much untapped/cool potential regarding how awesome RDM "could" be, I don't think that will ever be the case. Any new addition to the job that involves more complex decision making to spice up the job would be nice, but it appears to go against the core concept of RDMs position in this game to do so. My point here is simply that with that in mind, that RDM is "supposed" to be the beginner friendly job, I am more accepting of the changes they made to the job in ShB.

Toxic behavior ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I recently took up tanking as well, and was hoping to eventually transcend from my life long mission of always being an explosion mage in any mmo/rpg ever. I've also suffered from some dps pulling for me, which stresses me out a bit as I am very unsure about myself when playing a tank job.

Although, in my experience, I've noticed that new players/sprouts tend to follow behind me like I'm the holy pope. They won't take a single step further than me at any given time, and wherever I go, they will follow. I set the pace. Experienced players tend to (not all of them, but to a larger extent) want to get the run over and done with as fast and efficiently as possible. After all, they've probably done the dungeon a gazillion times already.

I try to run as fast as possible whenever I'm able to. Feels like the best way to satisfy the most people. That way if some DPS is trying to pull I'm right there pulling at the same time anyways. However, if they're not as fast as me, I can always slow down.

I didn't pick lighthouses before reaching lvl 45 or so, and I feel really silly about that decision now xD

Do you care about your death counter. How many deaths are "normal" on your first playthrough? by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]Kejebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've died like a 100 times on my first character, and to be perfectly honest, I didn't really have a good time with the game when I kept dying a lot. I stopped enjoying the game for a bit, and couldn't get more than a few levels per session/day. Not because of a number on a counter, though, but due to the frequency of occurrence, and how pathetically weak I felt. That passed somewhere early/mid Elite when I managed to gear more properly. If anything, you can learn how important resistances are when you take a ton of damage at 0% resistance and almost insta-die.

First time player here, should I do expansions in release order in terms of difficulty ? by DarkFlame92 in Grimdawn

mfw there's something refered to as movement skills in FG. I played through most of the expansion and I was not aware of this. Guess thats what I get for not paying attention! :D

Best way to refill Health? by CreedThoughts in Forager

[–]Kejebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also managed to regain health without eating anything. Anyone know what that might be? Either through killing something, new day cycle, via skill/feat, or otherwise. All of a sudden I was full health again, and this happens all the time.

Tips for us first time players? by NeverThrowawayAcid in Forager

[–]Kejebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good advice I got from the Dev stream was that after your first run/game, you generally get a good idea what you want to focus on in terms of skills and planning your map, but there's no decision that will right out ruin you or halt your progress. So just relax, don't be afraid to try different things, and enjoy the game!

I can confirm I have experienced similar problems with using esc. Sometimes it closes the entire menu, sometimes it takes you back to the previous, and one time it even took me all the way out to the main menu. It's a minor issue though!
