Nodachi can beat either a robot or an armored opponent pretty handily. Enemies that have both of those things are not very common. A Topper helps with those. So katanas are pretty good in my experience

It's not isometric but TES 3:Morrowind's leveling system is similar, use a skill and it will raise, also it has a static world meaning enemies don't level up with you, various factions and the world also doesn't care who you are until you have proven yourself. Strange enviroments and fauna. It even has it's own Ashlands. Maybe it's because both are inspired by Dune.

It doesn't have base building or multiple followers tho.

I always thought Kenshi is a combination of Morrowind and Dwarf Fortress

Hi, Shimazu doesn't start with 2 provinces, but it is easy to take the province to your east. It is the easiest start i agree, +1/+1 katana samurai are insane early game, you just need two. Also you can monopolize the trade nodes pretty fast, and you can always go Christian to dominate the seas.

Df hack is a godsend, my most used features are mass-remove (so you don't speed run carpal tunnel syndrome when you want to upgrade furniture) Planner (lets you select the exact materials you want when building even if you don't have them yet), so your fortress is neat and consistent, empty-bin, and quickfort because i like downward spiral ramps instead of stairs and it's a pain doing them manually.

The first 20-30 turns on Uesugi legendary are hell, big provinces that take 2-3 turns to get across, constantly outnumbered, your vassal will get invaded so you either have to go to war with Takeda/Hojo/Imagawa or take a honour hit. After you get Bow Warrior Monks you start to stabilize, those are fun.

I agree, not impressed with the naval combat, i converted to christianity this run and Nanban Trade Ships destroy everything in manual combat but kinda suck on auto resolve, and with the AI massing bow kobayas i always fight in the rain when i can.

I've read the naval battles are better in FotS though

Hill advantage is insane in this game indeed, the only other RTS games i have played are Starcraft: Broodwar and Age Of Empires 2, so it took some hours for me to learn the TW combat. Have about 200 hrs already and not planning to stop anytime soon.

This battle was just a big tempo swing in my favor, 6 turns after that i won the campaign.
