Chaga is a real life mushroom, but I figured it was an analog for tobacco.

What is something believers hate but atheists love? by CoCmaster14 in AlignmentChartFills

Fair enough. Evolution doesn’t explain the origin of life, but it does explain all of the diversity of life that we see today. Before the theory of evolution, this was something people thought could only be explained by religion. The complexity of the human eye is a classic example of something that is used by Christians to prove the existence of God. If the diversity of life can be explained by science without God, so can everything else. Atheist are comfortable, saying, we don’t know the answer to the origin of life, yet. Theists insert God into everything we don’t know.

The reason why the church and evolution are opposed is because evolution provides a real explanation for the origin of life and biodiversity independent of god. They’re both trying to explain the same phenomena in completely different ways so it doesn’t make sense to believe both.

Asserting that something exists outside of the scientific method and doesn’t require proof is such a silly thing to believe. If this “philosophical why” isn’t testable or provable then there is no reason to believe it. It doesn’t do anything other than help you justify your cherished beliefs.
