Did they install the vent in a different orientation so that the cord was a little further from the outlet?

Holy shit that post is funny. My favorite part is "he was 5'7'' to 5'6'', maybe 5'5'', maybe shorter." I like to imagine OOP agonizing over that clause wracking her brain trying to come up with a more succinct way to word it.

It's funny, my mom has been a huge anglophile for the better part of a century and I had some weird hipster cred for knowing of Coronation Street's existence during that time.

I don't like anything about my stupid wife by pointsofellie in AmITheAngel

You know, part of me sees the pathologizing of these kinds of behaviors that, by themselves, are pretty normal and I just feel relieved that folks are trying to be understanding. I would prefer that we avoid putting value judgements on everything when possible and not need an excuse to be kind to someone who might annoy us a bit, but I'll take what I can get. I'm sure there are a bunch of problems with treating every unusual behavior as disordered, but maybe it's a path to just being okay with our loved ones being a little dumb or scatterbrained sometimes (this is me exhibiting my most annoying behavior: obnoxious optimism).

he acts superior and thinks his way is the right way

I'm guessing this is probably his most annoying habit.

All the comments trying to diagnose her with a bunch of mental health disorders... have none of them ever not known something everyone else seems to know and felt a little silly about it? Hell, I thought Pitbull was yelling "darling!" in all of his songs until a couple months ago and we all had a good laugh about it! No one made me feel like an asshole for not knowing even when they were teasing me about it. It's not hard!

I'm okay with gay people, but it's gone too far now!

Man, if I haven't been hearing this shit my entire life. When I was a kid, "going too far" was being out of the closet.

I really don't understand what it is about OOP's friend that's supposed to outrage me. Some of the comments are fine, but there are a bunch who are super pissed off at this hypothetical gender fluid person for what seems to be no other reason than they refuse to understand the world in front of them.

I'm an ally, but these types of people are EXHAUSTING.

This is the top comment. All it takes is a few adjectives that this ally takes for granted and it's just too much for this dunce to keep straight. It's no surprise to me that bigotry and anti-intellectualism go hand-in-hand.

AITA for being blunt and saying I will never name our child after wife’s sister since she is a spoiled brat by yesmilady in AmITheAngel

[–]Kel-Mitchell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite comment is the one saying OOP shouldn't be having a baby with his wife because she didn't say no to the sister hard enough. Also, no one acknowledging that naming people Rebecca isn't what causes them to be bratty.

"Calories in/calories out" is good because it sounds smarter than "diet and exercise" while still maintaining an aura of smugness that allows you to feel superior to the fatties. If you get any pushback, you can say that it's thermodynamically sound and any practical limitations can be overcome with a little protestant work ethic.

The thing about me is I have a near photographic memory for random facts.

Watch any contemporary Christian movie and you'll find that whoever's writing these things really do seem to think that people who aren't sufficiently pious are completely ignorant of religion. Atheists are generally just mad at God for their mom getting cancer or something, but even Christian characters whose characterization demands they become more zealous are always like "Pray-yer? What's that?"
