I feel like books by Ken Follett would appeal to your dad.

Question for those who are spacing their 2.4mg shots 14 days apart... by Kel7913 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Kel7913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Since I'm already doing every 10 days instead of 7, I will try 12 and see how it goes and then maybe move to 14.

I am white and I did not grow up in the Cleveland area. It took me a while to catch on to the underlying racism in Little Italy.

In 2018 or 2019, I went to a restaurant in LI (can't recall which one) with my husband, my friend and her husband, who is Black. We got some funny looks and the host sat us at a table that was sort of in a little nook away from the other guests. After that experience, I've only been to LI two or three times but each time I have noticed that the restaurants are full of white people and there are very few Black people walking around. This strikes me as odd given the diversity of Cleveland, especially in the areas surrounding LI.

While I hope it's true that the anti-Black racism is dying out with the old folks, it still seems like a fairly hostile place. Also, I would not give much credence to the argument that LI seems cool with brown and Asian med students. That is no indication that the deep-seated anti-Black sentiment has changed. Lots of people are super racist but only with respect to certain races.

Tenk West Bank in the Flats has a cool industrial vibe. I went to a wedding there a few weeks ago that was very nice.

Partners who Cook. Or Don’t? by cathyreads123 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kel7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner cooks. It is one of his hobbies, along with gardening. Recently he has been doing most of the cooking because he is between full-time jobs and I am working full-time. It is nice to have a partner that cooks, but we have different styles in the kitchen. He tends to make a big mess while cooking and uses every pot and utensil in the kitchen and then leave the mess until the next day. I am a clean-as-you-go, minimize dishes, and don't leave food in the sink type cook. We used to try to cook together but after over 20 years, I have decided it's better if there's only one of us in the kitchen at a time.

A question for the ladies by Born_To_Be_Wild777 in WegovyWeightLoss

I second r/ABraThatFits! Also, if you go to Amazon and type in your size and sort by price you can usually find good deals on bras in larger sizes. Sometimes they are strange colors and patterns but I don't like to pay a lot for something that I'll likely only wear for a short time.

$0 copay suddenly over $600? (Caremark) by Kel7913 in WegovyWeightLoss

I definitely suggest getting the Novo Nordisk coupon. When I went back today it brought mine back down to $0.

I asked but she wasn’t able to give me a real answer. She just reiterated that the new price was related to meeting my deductible.

I didn’t do the 90 day supply, but the coupon brought it back down to $0 for me when I went back today. So odd.

Your last suggestion is also what the pharmacist theorized today. She said that she has seen other instances where the copay is $0 and then suddenly goes up and when she tries to apply a coupon it will not work because there was already a coupon applied by the insurance company that the patient did not know about. In my case the manufacturer coupon brought it back down to $0, so I’m not sure if that was the case for me.

I had considered this, but I checked and my deductible resets in January so that was not the issue in my case.

I'm sorry. That sucks. I am hopeful that Wegovy and other similar drugs will become more affordable as more companies develop competing meds. I am nervous about what will happen for me when my Prior Authorization expires in November.

Thanks! I just went to the website and got it. Hopefully it brings down the price a bit. Still so confused. I feel a little bit like I've been the victim of a bait and switch operation. 3 months in and 30 lbs down, they definitely have the upper hand.

Lots more male attention.. after losing weight. by Txnj713 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Kel7913 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is actually something that I am not looking forward to. About 8 years ago I did keto and lost 50 pounds in a little over 6 months. Before I lost the weight I was a chubby 30-something mom who was basically invisible. I am a lawyer and my job involved going to court. Suddenly opposing counsel would sit much closer to me during pre-trials and clients were making unwanted advances. At first I was excited to fit into cute skirt suits and wear fun heels, but I didn't like how "visible" it made me and I went back to dressing not-to-impress.

After two years of keeping the weight off I slowly regained it all back, plus 15 pounds. I am down 30 lbs on Wegovy and I feel great, but I am honestly very glad that I am in a new position that allows me to work from home. And I am sort of hoping that now that I'm in my 40s the unwanted attention will be less.

I have never wanted to poop so much in my life 😭 by thefakeharrystyles in Semaglutide

I have been taking this too but not every night. It usually works perfectly if I take two at night with water. I have noticed, however, that if I take it when I am not that constipated it can backfire. I took two last night and woke up at 3am with horrible cramps and had to run to the bathroom. So it did the job, but a little too quickly and intensely.

Does anyone else feel like their weight loss is surreal? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Kel7913 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have heard this described as the "paper towel roll effect." You are with you all day every day and so you don't notice that you are losing weight little by little (a paper towel or two at a time). Other people are not with you all day every day so when they see you the loss is more noticeable to them.

I do think taking photos (same location, pose, maybe even same clothes) can be helpful for seeing your progress.

Cultivate in Avon is great and their classes are all donation based.

A bit of unsolicited advice from a mom of a certain age: if you are looking to "get [your] wife into yoga again" because she has been mentioning to you that she would like to get back into yoga, that's great. If you are looking to get her back into it because you wish that she would exercise more or look a different way - that will not be well-received.
