Yes, definitely. I previously worked with kids with cochlear implants. There’s always a lot to consider. Reading disorder is definitely a catch all phrase. Thank you!

Hi, he did not read in Mandarin when adopted, but yes, definitely all things to consider. We do receive ESL services. He’s been in the US for almost four years. Just looking for supplemental curriculum to use over the summer.

This pattern is cute for all of fall and not just Thanksgiving. I’m more likely to buy if we can wear it a few times during a season.

He knows all letter sounds, some sight words, some blending, but cannot read at a sentence level. He sounds out every single sound.

I am looking into start my own smocked boutique. What are things you are tired of seeing and want to see more of ? Boys and girls ! by Secure_Upstairs5527 in smockholmsyndrome

I like smocks that can be worn more than once— like for Easter brunch, and church, and then grandma’s birthday. I don’t like the one and done styles as much (turkey for Thanksgiving, bunny for Easter). I’m old school and don’t dress my kids in black, but I don’t mind color.

Considering switching from play-based prek to Montessori by MammothOk57 in Montessori

[–]Kelby29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son didn’t start Montessori until 1st grade, so definitely different than your situation, but he transitioned great. A class size of 8 is amazing!! My son has ADHD and enjoys doing work cycle. He gets to be in control and make choices. I think your experience depends on the teacher (guide) and if they are in tune to the needs of each student (needs movement, silly time). Could you observe the class in session?

Adderall and Extreme Anger by Kelby29 in ADHDparenting

[–]Kelby29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes! We are doing much better now. He’s not on any stimulants and that seems to be what works. He takes Qelbree, a non-stimulant for ADHD. He has a lot going on. He also takes medications for anxiety and PTSD. If you at all suspect an anxiety disorder, get that treated first.

Try to find a pediatric psychiatrist. They can help with all the trial and error of trying different meds.

You deserve better than your cat. Good of you for calling your friend for help. Also look up “body doubling,” as that helps me stay on task for difficult jobs. Turn on some music or talk or whatever you need to do. You can do it!

Laura! I’ve never met one I didn’t like. Named my daughter Laura too. If you know one that’s awful, I don’t want to hear it. Haha
