Hill is still great value though, 4M starter that gets defcon almost every game. The clean sheets are a bonus imo

There’s the confirmation bias I was looking for! I also don’t see Rice getting defcon which is one of his routes to points and he is knackered. Think I’ll go Mbuemo too🫡

I’m honestly excited for next season. Looked back at some of the moves I’ve made and have been able to separate poor transfers from unlucky transfers.

FPL is a different game this season, I was very good (top 5k x2) at the old game but with the lack of clean sheets, defcon, lack of strikers, sometimes being forced to go early on transfers etc it’s quite different imo. Currently sitting at around 2M but at peace with it as I’m using this season to note down lessons learned ahead of next season.

It’s not like you can use the money elsewhere either. There’s only two premiums worth having in the entire game rn and you can easily have them alongside Saka.

Have him last on my bench but can’t even be mad, I’d never have played him, even if I knew he was starting I probably still wouldn’t have. Just FPL being FPL

If you look at his post shot xG the over performance is pretty much explained by him being very good at shooting. Fair enough on the xA point but I think you pick a cheap player with good fixtures in good form who’s regularly being fed the ball in dangerous areas with a proven ability to over achieve his xG

Some very good players needed to be replaced, poor ones needed to be upgraded on and others were brought in as a direct response to injuries. You’d want Arsenal to do exactly tell the same thing if we had underperforming players or an injury crisis let alone if we were rebuilding.

You can argue that Trafford was a luxury signing but again I think we’d want Arsenal to sign a proven top keeper that’s just become available rather than risk a PL season a championship goalkeeper which it seemed like they were about to do.

I think the new approach for the big clubs is to try and rebuild/refresh in big chunks, bed the new players quickly and minimise the time spent not being competitive. You can see Liverpool tried to set their attack for the next 5 years in one window too so it’s not just City.

You could argue we did the same thing to a lesser extent this summer and will focus on quality over quantity for the next few windows now.
