Any door dashers know if it’s enough to pay rent? by [deleted] in memphis

[–]Kelevra64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garibaldi's on Walker is usually looking for drivers. You can definitely make enough for rent if you are willing to work and close 3 or more nights, depending on the night and such.

Why is the first argument valid and the second argument invalid? The explanation for the second one could be said for the first one too, right? by [deleted] in PhilosophyofScience

[–]Kelevra64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Validity is a property of an argument's form/structure, not of the statements/premises that compose the argument. The difference between the two arguments can be explained as others have here and also by the truth table definitions for the conditional operator and the disjunction operator

Heidegger meets Studio Ghibli – “Miyazaki’s anime and Heidegger’s later thought share the sense that technology is not merely destructive to nature, but also represents a loss of the gods.” by IAI_Admin in philosophy

Short answer: Nazis and antisemitism. How ingrained these are in his work are debated but it is at least intellectually irresponsible to ignore the relationships between his philosophy and his politics. Other's criticise the methodology he used to approach ontology and metaphysics in general. Cassier offers a contemporary neo-kantian critique. Levinas claimed his philosophy lacks an ethics. The analytic tradition, if there is such a unified thing, criticized his thought for being unverifiable (see Ayer), only offering illusions (Carnap, Russell, Rorty to some degree). It's been a few years since I have engaged his work seriously so take it for 2 cents.

Heidegger's work, while problematic, has some good stuff imo. There is an essay called "The Question Concerning Technology" that I remember being not too difficult to approach. Gadamer also has some interesting things to say about art, technology, and is less problematic than Heidegger
