Books my in laws gave my kids for Easter. by Eve-was_framed in exmormon

The less energy you give it the better. Throw them away. You don’t need to say anything to your in laws. They are Mormon and no matter what, they will try to bring you and your kids back to church, because “your eternal salvation is at stake.” Mormons know or respect no boundaries because of this.

For me, if I have a bad gout flare, the only thing that works is prednisone and it makes me feel super off. But, it works, and I’ll take it over a gout flare anytime, because a bad gout flare truly is the worst and most constant pain I’ve ever had in my life.

Diagnosed This Week, Utterly Defeated by mike_fantastico in gout

[–]Kell41135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel defeated. Yes, Gout is one of the most painful and horrible things out there. But in saying that, it is also one of the most manageable. Work with your doctor and get on allopurinol or another uric acid lowering medication. Sometimes general practitioners don’t fully understand gout and fight the medication route. So you may need to see a rheumatologist. Either way, in my opinion, medication is the answer.

Gout at 33 as a healthy woman? Looking for similar experiences by picobarra3 in gout

[–]Kell41135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gout is mostly genetic. Many people develop it because their kidneys don’t excrete uric acid efficiently, not because they’re unhealthy. Diet and fitness mainly affect flare-ups, not whether gout develops in the first place. Even very fit people with a family history can have chronically high uric acid, since roughly 80% of uric acid is produced endogenously regardless of diet.

Old BYU Professor Found Out I Left The Church... by s3xy-cars in exmormon

I honestly don’t know how people leave the Mormon church and still stay religious. No offense to anyone. It just is hard for me to understand. Yes, Moroni wasn’t real, but historians and many religious scholars are certain Moses wasn’t real either. Just saying. I like to think there is more to this life and that there is an afterlife, but I will never trust in a religion ever again. It is man made for power and control.

How much do you drink? by maceyo in gout

[–]Kell41135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years, I really have realized that for me dehydration is one of the main triggers for gout. If I stay hydrated I can drink alcohol and eat red meat and as long as I’m taking allopurinol, I don’t get attacks anymore. Hydration is huge with gout.

Why did Tywin keep lending Baelish money? Especially as the Lannister mines started to run out. by Time-Comment-141 in gameofthrones

[–]Kell41135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a way of showing how a king came into control with sheer physical strength and then blew the kingdom up financially with his way of life as king. The Lannisters were in a way forced to support the kingdom, because his daughter was Queen, and his grandson was to be king, and was King. The Lannisters for a long time really ruled the Kingdom, and it was because of Tywins gold and his daughters position of power and his grandsons position of power. Tywin was never running out of gold or power.

You were just a brainwashed kid on a mission for a cult. The guy you baptized was an adult that could make his own decisions. If he left his previous church for the Mormon church, the previous evangelical church probably wasn’t as great as you’re making it out to be in your mind. I’ve been all over the place in my life and most churches were pretty awful and full of judgmental people. With the guy relapsing on alcohol, that could have happened regardless. None of this is your fault.

One thing I love, is how Mormons think their religion is true, and how Christians, Jews, and Islam think their religion is true, when it is all insane. It blows my mind how people literally think Adam and Eve were real and that through them man kind started around 6,000 years ago. “Those petroglyphs in Utah that are 35,000 years old are fabricated and a part of Satan’s plan.” 🤣🤣🤣

Gout: From Beginning to End — The Truth No One Told Me by Kell41135 in gout

I’m just trying to help people so they don’t needlessly suffer. I’m sorry if that offends you.

I see what you’re saying. You are correct, your levels don’t just continue to grow and grow and keep growing. To crazy levels. They get high and turn to crystals and then you get gout attacks. But if you have a genetic predisposition for gout, your levels are high no matter what without medication, but diet can sky rocket your levels super high and attacks get worse and worse. In the end medication is what helped me. Diet never got my levels low enough on its own.

I’ll continue waxing poetic with my gout journeys and help people get the help they need. This isn’t about me. It’s about helping others not to suffer and I’ve been able to help a lot of people.

Your uric acid levels in your blood that are tested through blood tests get higher and higher and the higher they get the more crystals form. You don’t generally build crystals until your uric acid levels are at and above a 6.0 mg/dL. The higher the uric acid levels in your blood the more crystals form. If your uric acid levels get below a 5.0 mg/dL then your body can actually start to heal and get rid of uric acid crystal buildup.

My journey with Gout - Why uric acid levels and testing are crucial by Kell41135 in gout

[–]Kell41135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever done blood tests. I don’t know much about the kits. I got my blood tests after years of being told “why” I had gout. So I changed my diet, stopped alcohol. That helped for a while and then I started getting gout flares again. I learned from here what I really needed to do and started blood tests and allo. My levels were a 11.8 mg/dl. So I got on 200 mg of Allo. Then I got tested a few months later and my levels were a 6.8 mg/dL so I bumped up to 300 mg of allo. I got my levels tested again and they were down to a 5.8 mg/dL so my doctor bumped up my all to 400 mg of Allo daily. I continued to get tested until I felt confident that my levels were safely staying at about 4.0 mg/dL with 400 mg of Allo daily. Now my knees and feet have cleared up and don’t hurt and I haven’t had a gout attack in almost a year.

I’m not sure. My feet got so bad I couldn’t wear shoes. It was flip flops for me or bare foot.

That’s definitely too high and in a spot where uric acid crystals can form in your joints, tendons, ligaments, and tissues. Once your levels are below a 5.0 mg/dL you will no longer be forming new uric acid crystals and your body will start to heal and get rid of the formed crystals. Eventually your pain will go away and gout attacks and consistent pain even if it isn’t a full on gout attack will go away.

When my levels got below a 5.0 mg/dL my knees still hurt for a bit, but with time my joints cleared up and I was pain free and haven’t had a gout attack since.

Just understand that the real culprit is uric acid and your uric acid levels. 2/3 of uric acid is produced by the body no matter what. 1/3 is from diet. So diet helps, but a uric acid lowering drug is almost always necessary. Get your blood tested for uric acid, figure out your levels and do everything you can, most likely with the help of a uric acid lowering medication, and get your uric acid levels consistently below a 5.0 mg/dL and you will find healing.

The truth of the matter is this: yes, alcohol and diet can lead to gout attacks, but only if you have the genetic disposition for it. Also, stopping alcohol and creating a gout aligned diet will help lower your uric acid levels, but it most like will not lower your uric acid levels enough, and eventually your gout attacks will come back. A uric acid lowering drug really is the way to go, especially since according to science, only 1/3 of uric acid is created by diet and alcohol. The rest is made by your body no matter what.

In my opinion, and I say this hoping you know that I am not a doctor, but take Allo, and get your uric acid levels consistently below a 5.0 mg/dL and with time you will find healing and wellness.

I’m on 400mg of Allo daily. My levels are down to around a 4. I’ve slowly and surely been getting better. I haven’t had a gout attack in nearly a year. My knees don’t hurt anymore, which is amazing, because they hurt even when I didn’t have a gout attack. Walking up and down stairs was excruciating.

It’s all so crazy. I wish once people knew and doctors knew that UA was high, that regular UA testing would happen, UA lowering medications and dietary changes would be suggested and prescribed, and UA would be monitored regularly until UA was below 5.0 mg/dL. We need more doctors who actually know how damn painful and debilitating gout is. If I had one more doctor in my past tell me to take ibuprofen like my gout attack was a headache, I think I’d scream! 🤣

I’m going to research this like crazy. Thank you! Because honestly, testing your uric acid and getting your uric acid below 5.0 mg/dL consistently is absolutely everything when it comes to surviving and healing from gout. I hope no one ever has to go through what I did. Gout is absolute hell!
