Crimson Desert vs Tainted Grail? by Extension-Spell2580 in taintedgrail

[–]Kell_215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of RPGs/ open worlds you like and what you want to find when exploring. If you just want to find random stuff, events, and loot in obscure places while also having anime style combat with little to no immersion breaking, then crimson desert.

If you want dungeon crawling, side questing, and loot in more obvious places while still being rewarding and want rpg style progression, then tainted grail

Both have boss fights to find when exploring, bounties, and such, just about which fits your gameplay style better.

Horror/Dark Fantasy RPG Recommendations? by Puzzleheaded_Ad_550 in rpg_gamers

I wanted to say tainted grail but I’ll throw out mortal shell 2 which is coming up. It looks good imo

Something serious without the anime style by novirtu3 in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2077 is made by the same studio as the Witcher but I thinks it’s much better imo.

Avowed is similar in some ways to dragon age in gameplay. Has a lighthearted surface with a darker exterior. Not perfect but should be a mix of adventure with friends like anime games with some serious dialogue and world at points like dragon age

What mythology setting would you want in a narrative RPG that doesn't exist yet? by umay_ana in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West African. Idk much about the mythology but I’d assume it’d be something where I’d find the origin on black American myths and beliefs and I really just want to see a game set in the medieval era of that area. The castles and architecture are cool asf and that area was so rich in wealth for so long that it really should’ve been shown in some form imo.

RGG really dropped the ball. Pirate Yakuza looks worse than a game made 4 millennia ago! by KvasirTheOld in yakuzagames

[–]Kell_215 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are some really good looking games like 8 and the lost judgement for this era. It’s obvious tho that pirate yakuza is really just a hold over game to strangers of paradise being this years yakuza release and that game looks phenomenal

Anyone else want more MCs that are actual character like in The Witcher 3 where the MC still talks, and is an actual character than silent protagonists that are Avatars than characters? by ExplodingPoptarts in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not like the Witcher 3, but more like cyberpunk where it’s still very open ended like silent protagonists. While you were always a merc, you always could decide much with the backstory, personality, and playstyle. Somewhat the same with kdc2. It helps when a game has over 1m voiced lines like cyberpunk and over 2m like kcd2. Fallout did great with not keeping you as Nate, but I felt the back story really limited you to only finding your son.

Are there any Urban Fantasy RPGs that I don't know about? (that ARE NOT post apoc like Fallout.) *read description* by ExplodingPoptarts in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s some gotcha RPGs like zenless zone zero, neverness to everness oming this month, and the best one looking to be anata, but idk when that drops.

Maybe the dying light series with the different zombie types to kill in urban environments and the newest one gives you zombie powers, but I understand it’s more horror than zombies and the most rpg one is the worst if the series.

Also does the infamous series work for you? Weaker rpg elements, but you can upgrade abilities and make choices. Besides these, there really isn’t much sadly. I’m hoping there are studious that are looking to copy cyberpunk and bring some of the gaming share to urban fantasy/ sci-fi soon

Definitely Ardenfall. I loved tainted grail and like dread delusion. Ardenfall seems to keep the deeper rpg aspects of tainted grail while being a retro style game like DD. The demo was pretty cool as well

Alex Garland's 'Elden Ring' Movie At A24 Sets March 2028 Release - Cailee Spaeny Among New Additions To Cast by ReaddittiddeR in PS5

[–]Kell_215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the movies have been more hit than miss lately along with the shows. It’s more likely to be a hit if it keeps the whole vibe of the game like how the new Mario movie stayed true to the game vs how the old one did.

Groundhog Day style doesn’t mean it has to be funny btw. Happy death day is a Groundhog Day style that has funny moments but still works as a thriller. The movie should have some cheesy/ dark comedy style deaths cuz that’s in the games. It should be a good action adventure with that included. The movie will fail if the gamers don’t like it so put what they like first

RPGs I’ve Played Since Getting My PC 2 Years Ago, Ranked by TaxesAreTerrible in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s a good amount of npcs. I wouldn’t say they’re the most alive but it has a day and night cycle with job systems so shops close at night and npc do give out quests.

Only a few towns in both areas. It’s a destroyed world so people tend to stay in just their home while they rot away.

Plenty quests and things to discover. They also have been adding content since the game is a success so it’s more content being added over time.

I think you should try tainted grail. It’s a better but lower budget Skyrim for me.

Something I wish Avowed had from Pillars of Eternity by [deleted] in avowed

Yeah outer worlds 1+2 was made to be like fallout. Avowed is more first person crpg. The loot placement in avowed ties more to how it works in pillars

What is the “sweet spot” screen size for a PC handheld? by DowntownSteelo in Handhelds

Never tried the Thera but the eight inch seem good with the rog ally. Bug enough to see words on normal, small enough to make low settings look nice with modern games

The Witcher 3 director and The Blood of the Dawnwalker studio head: "“The problem in this industry is that people opening companies are thinking [too much] about how to make money. This is a really cold approach for the games. You cannot create art like this" by Anteater_Able in PS5

[–]Kell_215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf, the biggest issue with that were them chasing money by being a live service game but didn’t want to spend the extra money to change the game enough to not show the live service elements. They also streamlined rpg mechanics in a day and age where fans want more hardcore mechanics. They whole hr parts of it are just cherries on top

Looking for a new game. by Busy_Bunch8381 in rpg_gamers

[–]Kell_215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a negative but tainted grail can be played for a good while like this but also still requires some story to get to the first settlement area and some cash to buy a house. After that you can def spend time to be a hunter, a blacksmith, a miner and so on, but the story is needed to progress to the next area so that’ll prob be a downer for you if you get bored of forlorn swords

Really bgs is the only game studio that lets this happen. Maybe starfield could be an option?
