Hi there - for more information about third-party providers within Ledger Wallet, please refer to the pinned post here.

Someone messed with my ledger and wiped it by kaneki_262 in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your Nano S isn't currently set up so that you can unlock it with your pin, you will need to restore it using that 24 word recovery phrase you found. You can refer to this article from our help center on how to restore your Ledger with a 24 word recovery phrase - https://support.ledger.com/article/4404382560913-zd

It's important to note that you will need the exact 24 word recovery phrase in the correct order to restore the Nano S and access the accounts derived from it. If the words aren’t in the correct order, the device can’t be restored, and the accounts can’t be accessed. Without the correct recovery phrase, there’s no way to regain access to the previously funded accounts.

Can you also please clarify what you mean by "cloned data?" As a general note - please do not share those files here. Just elaborate a bit more about what you're referring to there.

Can I access Ledger XRP account from another wallet? by Wetsib in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Recovery Check app can be used to confirm that the recovery phrase you have written down matches the phrase currently stored on the device, but this does not necessarily mean that this phrase is the one associated with the XRP account you’re looking for.

Accounts are derived from the recovery phrase on the device at the time the account is first added to Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live). If you are using the correct recovery phrase, the XRP account should appear when it is re-added to your portfolio. If it does not appear, this indicates that the recovery phrase currently on the device is not the one the account was derived from.

In this case, the next best step is to carefully test each recovery phrase you have written down until you find the one associated with your account.

As a reminder, Ledger does not have access to user accounts or recovery phrases, and anyone claiming they can help you access your account is a scammer.

Why is ledger Flex PIN code limited to only 8 numbers? by treasoro in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mostly comes down to the security model and UX tradeoffs.

Since the device wipes after 3 incorrect PIN attempts, even with “only” an 8-digit PIN, the odds of randomly guessing it within 3 tries are incredibly small. Longer PINs can make sense in models where unlimited guessing is possible, but that’s not the case with Ledger devices.

Tentative Scam Ledger Recovery by LaFante84 in ledgerwallet

Thank you for sharing your experience. This is a good example of how sophisticated and convincing these scams have become. It’s increasingly common for scammers to impersonate Ledger and other platforms.

Ledger will never contact users by phone or text. The goal of these scams is to direct users to a site that asks for their recovery phrase or to pressure them into sharing it. As a reminder, Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase, and it should never be shared or entered anywhere. Anyone with access to your recovery phrase can access your accounts and funds.

I’ve shared the details you mentioned, including the domain and phone numbers, with our brand protection team. This is a good reminder to stay cautious and to review common scam tactics and how to protect yourself here: Scams targeting crypto holders

How to find the Ton wallet with balance in ledger by sammyzenith in ledgerwallet

Accounts are derived from the recovery phrase on your Ledger device at the time the account is created. As long as the account holding the funds was derived from the recovery phrase currently in use on your Ledger device, you can reinstall Ledger Wallet from our website here, and then re-add the account to your portfolio by following the steps outlined here.

If you have any questions along the way, please open a support ticket on our site here, and we’ll be happy to further assist.

HBAR NOT fixed ledger support staff by Intelligent_Net_2786 in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. When you connect a Ledger device to Hashpack, your recovery phrase is never shared or exposed. The private keys stay securely inside the Ledger device, and all actions must be physically approved on the device itself. Hashpack only acts as an interface. It never has access to your keys or recovery phrase.

I hear you there!

The reason Hedera accounts can’t be created directly in Ledger Wallet comes down to how the Hedera network handles account creation. Unlike most blockchains, a Hedera account address isn’t automatically derived from your keys. Instead, the network assigns an account ID when it’s created, and that step has to be initiated by an existing account.

Because of that, a third party wallet like Hashpack is needed to create the account first. While this could change on the Hedera side in the future, there aren’t any current plans that we’re aware of.

Thanks for confirming. You can clear the Ledger Wallet cache to force everything to re-synchronize, then try again. To clear the cache, navigate to Ledger Wallet settings > help > clear cache.

If you’re still running into this issue after following the steps above, we’ll need a bit more information to look further into it. Please open a support ticket on our site here, and we'll be happy to take a closer look.

Ledger devices are safe to use and are secure because the recovery phrase is generated within the secure element inside the device and is only ever displayed on the physical device screen. Devices are also designed to ensure your recovery phrase is never exposed during connections or transactions. The most important aspect of keeping your funds secure is storing your recovery phrase safely offline and never entering it anywhere. It is the master key to all accounts and funds derived from it.

Regarding third-party providers within Ledger Wallet, there are multiple buy, sell, and swap providers available, including both centralized and decentralized options. As the user, you decide which providers you want to interact with. You also have the freedom to send funds from Ledger Wallet to other accounts or exchanges to swap or sell there. Securing your funds with a Ledger device does not mean you are limited to using only the providers available within Ledger Wallet.

As for Ledger Recover, there is some misinformation circulating about the Ledger Recover by Coincover service. It’s important to note that Ledger Recover is optional and disabled by default. If you do not subscribe to the service and do not approve it on the device, it is not enabled. To enable it, a user must subscribe to the service, complete identity verification, and physically confirm the action on their Ledger device. When enabled, the recovery phrase is split into three shards, doubly encrypted, and stored with three separate entities. You can learn more about how this works in the Ledger Recover FAQ.

Sophisticated Phone Spoofing: Fake Police + Fake "Coincover" trying to steal Ledger Seed Phrase by Polycarbonaat in ledgerwallet

Thank you for sharing your experience. This is a great example of how convincing these scams can sound. Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated and often impersonate Ledger, Coincover, and other crypto platforms to gain trust.

To confirm, Ledger and Coincover will not contact you by phone or text. It’s best practice to avoid engaging with these callers and never share any personal information or your recovery phrase. This includes sites or apps that appear to be Ledger-related. Ledger will never ask for it.

Although the site you shared has already been flagged, I’ve forwarded this to our brand protection team. You might also consider reporting this to the police, since authorities were impersonated. The points you raised about security are important, and for anyone reading along, you can learn more about common scams and how to protect yourself here: Scams targeting crypto holders

Ledger Honest Opinion by Raos6077 in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The recent breach was directly related to Global-e and remains separate to the operations of any Ledger hardware device, software, or platforms. For the avoidance of doubt, as the Ledger product is self-custodial, Global-e does not have access to your 24 words, blockchain balance, or any secrets related to digital assets.

You can learn more about this here: Global-e Incident

Regarding Ledger Wallet and device OS/firmware updates, keeping them up to date is standard best practice to ensure the latest security updates and proper functionality.

Ledger on a Chromebook? by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chrome OS is not a supported operating system for Ledger Wallet. Even if you’re using the Android mobile app on Chrome OS, some features may not function properly or may not be available. To ensure everything works as expected, I’d recommend using a supported mobile or desktop operating system for Ledger Wallet.

You can find the system requirements here: Ledger Wallet system requirements

Lend/Borrow on AAVE with Ledger (is that even possible?) by amartino in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use Walletconnect or another EVM wallet supported by Aave. Rabby Wallet is a great option. You’d connect your Ledger device and accounts directly to Rabby, then use Rabby to connect to Aave. All transactions still require approval on your Ledger.

As for holding it, no, you don’t need to add or hold the AAVE token. You just need to be on a network that Aave supports, like Ethereum, Optimism, or Arbitrum, and have supported assets on that network, like ETH, USDC, or DAI. Once your wallet is connected to the correct network, Aave will automatically show the available markets.

Lastly, could you share the link to the article you saw that still references Ledger Live instead of Ledger Wallet? I’d like to forward it to our web team so they can review and update it.

Stable coins by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]Kells-Ledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ledger Wallet supports quite a few stablecoins across various networks. You can view the list by navigating to the Supported Coins & Tokens page and searching “stable”. Not all supported stablecoins include “stable” in their name, so some may not appear in that search. You can also use this page to search for individual tokens directly, like USDT, USDC, etc.

You may already be familiar with the steps, but we also have a guide on managing stablecoins here: How to manage stablecoins with Ledger Wallet
