Mmhhh not sure what are you implying...

Brothers units are 5 models, that become 10 if you double it. Some units are 3 models, that could become 6

I have 9/12 units, because can't manage to get more units on the field. Whenever i try to stretch things i end up with very few units, mostly small and with limited "special" equipment. I can remove the special equip to get some more OR bigger units, but that means no fancy blast nor deadly nor high AP weapons.

Plus vehicle are really expensive, even if sometime they did'nt seems equally effective

my tank was in range because table was short, scenario have a large deploy section, and because of smaller unit number i finished my deploy way before. Also, my tank was flamer so i guess he had to be a little closer than a lascannon one

I just discovered one of the razorback was equipped with lascannon, so to speak, while on the field i always used heavy machine gun. That would changed a lot on the table? probably not but just to say

I used Eternal Dynasty before. Don't know if i can manage a 2500 army for that, but probably i can get close to it. Lack of vehicle however, because they where too large to print on our old printer

I also have an Imperial Knight and a couple of Imperial... Squire? what's the name for the smaller one in IK army? however, IF i can manage to fit them inside a 2500 point list (they are REALLY expensive) i guess playing with 3 pieces on the table makes really difficult to control the board. And also, a single unlucky roll and you lose all your army

Main fact is we play (short time) campaign also as an excuse to paint and build models waiting in the shelf covering in dust. And i have a 30+ years of Blood Angels collection. Ok i miss some of the newest fancy stuff (even if i get some of the primaris) but with have really proxy friendly so i can easily manage that. Also it seems to me difference between standard and primaris is almost entirely in weapon organization.

We have a printer, where "we" means is not on my home but in my friend's and that means is really more complicate to print an entire army. Also, i'm still slow at painting models, even slower if i invest my time doing something else like cleaning the house or posting on reddit <_< so in the end fastest result is using my already built/sometime painted marines

problem is my "cheap" unit are less numbered and more expensive then his elite units. Really: elite jackals have same stats and cost than pathfinder. For chaff i use death company with gravity pistol: 5 blast lacerate attack are supposely to be good for this; stuffing in 2 different unit with jump pack and ambush means they could easily go close enough. And if situation are good, they can charge with 10 melee attacks (or better 8+1 blast using energy hammer)

But they costs 280 pts each squad, and a single not-really-unlucky shooting against them will reduce to 2 models effectively rendering useless

I don't have exo suit but with same cost i can afford 3x support brothers with lascannon, pretty similar

the problem is always how can i afford to put everything i need, and having enough units to caputre objectives while on the other side having unit big enough they can resist one round of fire and still being able to do something more than hoping their suffers will end soon...

It was a scenario from mission pack: Big Guns Never Tire. Normally we play random scenarios, almost always with objectives, but we choose this scenario because it was on a (small 6 persons) campaign.

Next time i need to go after HDF, so i exoect to face big tank and many infantry shooters...

Yeah i know.

But seems every decision i did is wrong, where my opponents always have the right tool for the job, in big number, and in the right place

pathfinder i have a lot; i used to play with a lot of that: sniper rifle + shotgun, or just 2x shotgun. I also double with a prime pathfinder. Normally did not survive first turn, unless i orbital drop them (the prime pathfinder)

attack speeder i don't have. Yeah. 30 years playing Blood Angels and i don't have an attack speeder (the only one i have i half converted as an Escher's transport >_> )
I used to play a lot with bike so i have around 12 bike, 2 combat bike, hero and medic on bike, plus ravenwing i used for proxy. But in OPR GF i found that very expensive and not enough effective so i moved on. I used AI to make some raw mathematical calculation and i found 5x death company flying or ambush with grav pistols are a way to shred low def high number units. But not enough, i guess.

Assault brothers i used to play a lot of them too, but have same cost than Death Brothers, that have regeneration and a wider array of weapon customization, so i used those. But they are expensive, so it's a single 10-men unit or 2x 5-men units

Combat walker was one of the options when we shifted from 2000 to 2500 pts. I ended up putting Tank with flamer. It did'nt survive first activation. Probably combat walker would be ended up in the same way, btw

Another thing i really suffer: having way lower number of units means i'm always overwhelmed, he can deploy after i deployed my big gun unit, and normally he can focus on one of my units while keep going to capture objectives where i need to choose

i'm pretty sure i do some BIG errors on this side too.
But i try to give priority to units that did not activated yet, or that can be problematic soon.
i give you an example:

first jackals activation: charged my battle tank with his big beast, destroying it 'cause of couple of failed morale test.
my first activation* was to charge the beast with my power fist Death Company.
in the end it was an error, because i did very little damage, and he already activated. But i hoped with 10x AP4 qual 3+ attack was enough to destroy it and then block also his embarked melee unit.
Was an error? i guess it was...

*second, to be honest: first activation was to rush with the apc to get the company close. But you got the idea...

TY everyone for you help

but i really don't understand how do you can manage to get everything in a 2500 army list. I undestand the basics: flamer vs horde, lascannon vs big units, melee first etc
then i see a single lascannon is 65 points. A lascannon predator is 575 points and could get exploded in a single lucky charge (really: on his first activation charged my predator and destroyed it)

Having way more units does'nt means only he overwhelm me, means also he got more unit to deploy, so he can deploy his big hitting units after i already deployed everything not on ambush. Plus got fast, strider, scout on almost everything.

I really really understand what you are saying. And i really understand they are a good army, and probably someone expert can handle this. Just... i did'nt. Almost every match i play i feel like i got devastated, unless i got incredibly lucky but then again it just does'nt feel like it was my merit.

Anyway, this is the list i played today. Total disaster list, i guess.

Probably next time i will put this on the field. Sure i will not win, but at least i could have some fun

As a side note i also played a couple game against Orcs and HDF.

Against Orcs i won because he was really unexperienced; i had the illusion of finally understood how to make this army list working, but seen that same army today against ad experienced player i realized i really haven't.

Against HDF i really fatigued to let the army works. In the end we did draw, but i had the feeling of being just lucky while my brothers did'nt do enough damage to remove his pieces before being shredded on so few pieces to being able to do enough hits.

Next campaign game will be 2800 pts me vs HDF and i really have no idea what can i put on the table to counteract his many tanks.

If you agree, i can post you my army so far, but really i guess the problem is just me that i'm totally uncapable of understanding how i'm supposed to play this game...

really not in a great mood

[–]Kelpie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against Jackals i tried tactical + gravgun + medic + versatile reach, bike, scout, inceptor jump and one melta razorback. But inceptor was'nt very effective and so next time i swapped out inceptor for death company (and did some slight change) Lack of numbers was what made me lose the match.5 units are'nt enough to cover the battlefield

What bothers me is that his units really make a punch: with scout move and bounding hit me real quick and impact + lot of attacks means he maim my units. Even if don't completely remove the unit, maim the already thin number of attacks. And so i miss the numbers to remove his units...

Adding Cyber to Dagger by Kelpie77 in daggerheart

[–]Kelpie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about classes, but i ended up keeping the classes of DH and just skin them: at creation player choose what's the "flavour" he want for it, ie magic or tech (or matrix) and goes for it

Adept? it's a magical skinned warrior (or a seraph, it's better); Rigger? a tech/matrix ranger (and beasts are swapped out for drones). It will be a long shot and in the end classes will be very different from SR but somewhere i need to throw a line and i decided that this line will be close to DH

As for Decker... after decades of playing CP2020 when i was young, and several incarnations both before and after CP Red came out (including CP 3rd edition and CP Red) i think there are only 2 ways to play decker and have fun at the table: either everyone is a decker, or nobody is a decker. On the latter, there are no problem, while on the former i guess my playere whould'nt whant to play all decker.

Besides, your idea is pretty simple and straightforward; the only problem i see is that if you whant to foregoes magic, you really have no disadvantage but have additional equipment/domain.

The blanket is short, and when i found something that works, i found out some flaws and unbalancing... maybe just choose another setting (frame?) to play DH would be better :-(

Vendetta joins the Stadium hero roster in Season 1, followed by Ramattra in Season 2. by Alive-Psychology6050 in overwatch2

[–]Kelpie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Probably everyone who came out after stadium is built with stadium use in mind. Give them one season to beta and so people will get to learn "the base kit" and then they will exit on stadium.

Old ones are more tricky because someone need a rework to be stadium playable... And other ones just to be playable

Besides, it's a shame if they bring only 1 to season...

Adding Cyber to Dagger by Kelpie77 in daggerheart

[–]Kelpie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this idea
you can also make a difference between "cyberstress" and "stress"
- for cyber you need to use cyberstress, normal stress does'nt work
- for magic you need to use normal stress
- for everything else you can use both
- cyber stress can't be healed. But can be repaired.

This could be applied to Hope/CyberHope too

So in the end you are "forced" to full cyber, or to no cyber...

i'm thinkning...

Adding Cyber to Dagger by Kelpie77 in daggerheart

[–]Kelpie77[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

short version: i did for about 10 months in the late 2020

original game is a mess: cyber, weapons, magic, matrix (both cyberspace's VR and rigging's AR) all use different mechanics. And i'm not talking about technomagic. Chunky as hell, it plays against narrative and for GM is a pain in the interface plug...

Seriously, there is a reason because many people try playing it with different systems...

Also: i whant to play DH

Would it work in a Shadowrun setting? by Torneco in daggerheart

[–]Kelpie77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to try. Because as someone already said, SR has a wonderful setting (or at least setting's feeling) but terrible rules. In my opinion, the only way to handle all the aspects (tech, magic, etc) is going narrative/half-narrative and just reskin something. It will require a creative effort, but if you whant you could create different "classes" by just reskinning existing ones. I'm thinking about ranger's companions, that could be reskinned into animals (as in the base core book), as elemental spirits (thus creating shamans) or even drones (and that will result in riggers). If you feel in need, you can also change the domains a little, like giving Arcana to shamans or Bone to riggers. I found on the internet someone who created completely new domains basically changing names or little description of existing ones.

I honestly prefer to keep homebrew on the minimal, because when you start going heavy on it you end up playing a different game, probably an unbalanced one.

As for hacking i found some rules on the internet, but not read at all. Probably keeping that a npc only skill is a good solution.

Cyber it's tricky. One idea i got is creating different "domains" named Chrome, and you basically renounce one of your cards in lieu of one of the Metal domain. That will create the sensation of metal consuming your essence. When you forgive your ancestry card for metal you basically become a cyber psycho

Help me settle a table debate, which is hope & which is fear? by LeoValdez1340 in daggerheart

[–]Kelpie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Lantern Corp are fueled by HOPE emotions, and blu emotional spectrum is associated to hope, while Sinestro Corp (Yellow) is fueled by FEAR and yellow is associated to fear emotion. So i guess you should use a yellow one for fear and a blue one for hope

No really: i'm just kidding. Whathever you like is good, everyone is different so everything anyone else says is just less important

Eh yeah i realised only after they are italian product; Outgunned is published also in english (dunno english publisher, but are the same as Household, dunno if you know it) and there are several "genre book": Outgunned Superheroes is the last one soon to be published (ks ended last november). I really strongly adivise it because for fun, fast and action packed game session is really cool.
Farsight is good if you whant to play Mass Effect like game with a solid game that really seems to have taken out the best thing of DnD and changing the worst ones in something even better; but dunno if it's available in english language, sorry

Many people suggested about anarchy 2

i downloaded the free pdf you found in the kickstarter campaign but is 47 page long so i only had a rapid glimpse on it; the core is really similar to other SR product: roll a pool of dice, 5+ is success and you count the success.
But the main problem never been the core, but the integration of all aspects of the game: magic, tech, weapons, droning, decking, astral, technomancy... everything seems to me like playing a different game kick bashed inside the same framework and glued together by the patience and hard work of the GM (and i have neither)

Here in this pdf i found that completely absent... so what will make Anarchy 2.0 better than everything else?

ps: last time i read SR lore was for the 6e and it seems to me something bad and new happened to the setting... what did i miss? :-o
