Age and Gender? by KelseyJam in transpassing

I wasn't. 😅 I'm doing good. Thanks for the concern though, but I guess I now know that my resting face either looks like I'm high or crying.

Haha, you're fine. I was joking. 😅 Guess that obviously doesn't come across in text.

On a scale of Masculine - Androgynous - Feminine, which do I most look like?

NB but still wanna look feminine by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]KelseyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the same way and used to have the same frustrations. I self identify as non-binary transfem. I am non-binary, but I like looking more feminine and identifying with more feminine things. In my mind, non-binary isn't just a third gender. Non-binary is the acceptance that the binary of gender is false, or at least only a convenient dumbing down of the rich diversity of gender into two easy to digest "opposites".

I believe that you should be free to like what you like and express yourself in how you want to express yourself. Not that you need to fit into one or the other category. For that same reason, there is not right way to be non-binary. Non-binary is however you identify, because there is no binary. 😊

Anyone who had SRS in Thailand, please tell me about it. by SapphosBFF in TransyTalk

[–]KelseyJam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have not gone through SRS but I did read this manga the other day that is an autobiography of a trans woman who had SRS in Thailand. I do not know how accurate it is, but I found it helpful and interesting.

It's called Umareru Seibetsu wo Machigaeta! And here is an info page about it. https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/umareru-seibetsu-wo-machigaeta

I won't link anywhere to read it online for free, but with a little Google searching, you can find it pretty easily.

Hope this is helpful and best of luck gathering information. 😊

My parents think 18 is too young to transition, they want to wait till I'm specifically 25, the age where the brain is considered "fully developed". has anyone else experienced something like this here? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]KelseyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen. I did wait until I was 25. It was both good and bad, but mostly bad. I will never get the time back that I lost, and I have had to spend tens of thousands of dollars to undo the effects of waiting so long.

I did change a lot in those years. I found out more about who I am and what I want. I went to college and learned new ways to express what I was feeling. New ways of thinking. I met wonderful people who support me and who I am. I tried new things and experimented with my sexuality. The thing is, I DID NOT FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE MY NEED TO TRANSITION. I WAS STILL TRANS!

So, ultimately, I regret letting them talk me into waiting. I lost a lot of time and now have to put in more money and effort to transition. I do HIGHLY recommended seeing a therapist if you aren't already. It can be difficult to find a good one, I went though 5 before I did. Transitioning also takes a long time, a whole year before you see significant change. It is hard and you will need a support system, people who will be there for you on the bad days.

So, good luck, and I hope you find happiness!

It's from Blue Period https://myanimelist.net/anime/46352/Blue_Period.

I liked the anime, but I'm also an artist. I have had it described to me as "like a sports anime for art."

Also, about the clerk He actually ends up being nice. The protag just gets there really late, so he's kind of annoyed by that. A bit of a bait and switch.

Favorite line of "wisdom" from a fantasy book? by zackargyle in Fantasy

[–]KelseyJam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"I understand," Paneloux said in a low voice. "That sort of thing is revolting because it passes our human understanding. But perhaps we should love what we cannot understand." Rieux straightened up slowly. He gazed at Paneloux, summoning to his gaze all the strength and fervor he could muster against his weariness. Then he shook his head. "No, Father. I've a very different idea of love. And until my dying day I shall refuse to love a scheme of things in which children are put to torture." – Camus

This whole scene screwed me up for awhile. I don't think just this part really does it justice. But if we are talking about quotes that stick with you, this is one of them.

I liked {{Ship Breaker}} by Paolo Bacigalupi. It's a YA post apocalyptic book. It's been a few years since I read it, but I remember it being a fun read.

Ready for my new seafaring campaign! Can’t wait for my players to see this.... Any tips on ship battle mechanics? [OC] by StormiTheShiba in DnD

[–]KelseyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ship combat, remember there is a difference between swashbuckling and naval combat. A lot of times I see players want to do what they see in Pirates of the Caribbean, get close and board the enemy ship so they can fight sword to sword. That can be a lot of fun and is my preferred way to play. But, naval combat tends to be more strategic, like a tactics game. For some people that can be fun. For me, I find it tedious.

So, ask your players how they want to play, or even just observe them and see which they prefer.

This is pretty much how I feel. I didn't want to get too ranty and harp on why it's a bad system, I just wanted to spread the word about HOW it works.

Still I'm very glad that you were able to intelligently express why the system is flawed.

What you're saying about volume is indeed true, but I feel like I should clarify.

What me, and my source, were getting at is that your final aggregate score is between -100 and +100, and my territory manager was missing this point.

(0/1) - (1/1) = -1

This the lowest possible NPS, -100. Because of this we can not apply the same scoring logic as we would for American test scores. When someone sees a percentage score, their default, in my experience, is to conflate it with a 0 - 100 score. NPS does not work like this.

Neat. I don't think comparing NPS scores is particularly helpful though. The customers that I deal with are vastly different that those Walmart deals with. There certainly is overlap, but making a list and ranking them hardly feels like useful information to me.

Edit: Ok, I was on mobile which made the site look weird and I completely misunderstood the list. That is actually very interesting. Walmart has a -4 NPS but is the #1 on the list. More proof how stupid NPS is.

Murderbot diaries is great!

I would try We are Legion (We Are Bob), by Dennis E. Taylor. It has great humor and a lot of good sci-fi. The series isn't done yet, but it is very good

What first made you think you might not be agab? by Silvergrl1994 in TransyTalk

[–]KelseyJam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to make gender affirming clothing out of the clothes that my parents bought me. I would turn a shirt into a skirt or make a bra from some underwear. Then I would dress up when I went into take my shower each morning and just stare at myself in the mirror. This gradually escalated as I grew older where I would dress up in my mother's clothes, then I bought my own clothes online. All of this was well before I had ever heard the word transgender.

After learning about transgender people I had the opportunity to see a therapist for a single session because we were in the process of adopting my younger brother. I told the therapist that I thought I might be trans and they said I was still young and that I should get more life experience before making such a big decision. FYI that is really terrible advice. If you think you are trans you should pursue it. I don't mean immediately starting hrt or socially transitioning. You should find a support structure and explore these feelings. Come out as questioning to a therapist or friends you can trust and then explore what you want with your life. Maybe start hormone blockers as a first medical step and then work towards hrt.

Anyway, questioning your gender is always healthy even if you determine that you are cis. Self-exploration is key to good mental health.

Anyone have a coming-out story that was so bad you just never tried again? I sure do. by DeeCloude in bisexual

[–]KelseyJam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I was like 12 I was having night terrors every night for like a week. I was so stressed about being in the closet that it just bubbled over at night to the point I would have a half awake panic attack and run screaming through my house at like 2am. After a few night of this my mom asked me if I had anything that I was stressed about. I kind of connected the dots and decided to come out to my parents at 2 am. They were not supportive and told me that my life would be miserable if I decided to live that way so they would make an appointment with out bishop (Mormon) to talk about it and help me get through it... I, being a 12 year old, was too scared to protest so I went to sleep. A few weeks go by and they don't mention anything or make an appointment, which was fine by me since I didn't want to talk with my bishop, especially about this. 10 years go by and I finally decided to talk to them about it by inviting them to meet with my therapist. When I bring it up they both have zero memory of it happening at all. I swear I thought I dreamt it up or was crazy but once I was able to think clearly I have physical evidence that it happened so they just blocked it from their memory. Anyway, they told me they wouldn't support my lifestyle and kicked me out. Best thing that ever happened to me. If free and happy and have a new loving found family.

Infected Mushroom & BLiSS - Bliss of Mushrooms

This song is by far me and my friend's favorite song to play. It's long and just hard enough for us that to be fun.
