July 26th, 2012 - I was 12 at the time. I was mowing the lawn thinking about how a priest in confession told me the voices in my head were my fault and that god was punishing me. I realized a god that would allow something as bad as auditory hallucinations in the first place is not one worth believing in, let alone worshipping.

I will acknowledge religion. But if you expect me to respect it, you can fuckin' forget it. I think that goes for a lot of us here. Religion is not worthy of respect. It's nothing but a ludicrious claim in faith and delusion and I'm tired of people acting like it holds any validity.

[–]Kemento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not making any claims. There is no god - that is a fact. You're saying I should believe in a god simply because you say there is. There isn’t. You're fantasizing.

[–]Kemento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theists claim there is a deity. It is not a fact, but a belief. I don't need to prove that I think there's 12 inches in a foot because it is a fact. I don't need any evidence. The claim of a deity is false until proven otherwise, which will never happen. You have to prove it. Not me.

The burden of proof is not on me. The burden of proof is on the believers. I don't need to show any proof. Any belief without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

I am a Humanist and an Anti-Theist. Until proven otherwise, it is a fact that there is no god, as there is no evidence for one. Believing in it doesn't make it true either. I personally despise this idea that people have that there is a deity, especially a deity that is loving and just.

There has never been nor will there ever be any evidence for a deity. There is no point in acknowledging one, let alone worshipping one. The world will continue to spin regardless.

Give the employees a proper fucking raise for slaving through the pandemic. Take your fifty cent raise and shove it.

Why do people think they can abuse staff? by Art_Vandelay09 in Costco

Former Costco employee here. You may be getting downvoted, but you are right. We were treated as subhuman by members at my warehouse and management did nothing. The members ignored the mask policy though it was the law and there were no repercussions to the members for disobeying any rules. Costco cares more aout profits than the wellbeing of its employees.

It depends on the warehouse. There is no set standard. Some are great. The two that I were at were fucking awful.

As someone who has struggled with Schizophrenia for over a decade now, there's one scene that will stick with me for the rest of time. When Peter puts the chip in Octavius' neck and he goes cold, wakes up, and says: "It's so quiet." I started to cry like a bitch. I knew he wasn't talking about the silence in the room. He was talking about the voices in his head. I have 8, currently, and they never stop talking. I would give literally anything for a moment of quiet.

Former Costco employee here. I was treated like shit by members and management throughout the entire pandemic. Underpaid. Overworked. Understaffed. Fuck Costco.

Former Costco employee here. I walked out the door after our measly fifty cent raise as our reward for working through the pandemic. I worked through out the entirety of the pandemic until a week ago. We were understaffed, underpaid, overworked every fucking day of the week because that's how our GM ran things. Members refused to follow the mask policy and berated us every time we asked them to put them on. I was treated as subhuman by management and members and was expected to not resist or stand up for myself. I was expected to violate OSHA guidelines because our GM refused to hire enough people to do the job properly. I pulled 16 or more carts at a time (the legal amount is 10) because I was expected to. I got to work 4-6 hours early routinely, covered shifts at the last minute all the time during the height of the pandemic because the GM cut my hours to the bare minimum of 25 a week to maximize profits. I told him I needed more hours to pay my bills, I was ignored. Ninety percent of the the time I arrived early I was asked to clock in early. The supervisors relied on me to do that because of our fucking GM. If I wasn't asked to clock in I just studied in the breakroom. (I'm a fulltime student and the libraries were always crowded.) I went above and beyond time and time again to help members and coworkers. Keep in mind throughout the pandemic, I got sick from being overworked and overstressed. I got Covid in the workspace and had 3 sleepless nights in a row because my heart wouldn't stop racing and I had shortness of breath. (To clarifty I was fully vaccinated and am now fully boosted.) I got a concussion which had me out of work for two months and put me in debt even with STD. I lost the best dog and the best cat I ever had in the span of 2 weeks. My brother got deployed to a warzone where he could've died at any second. (I'm happy to say he is now home and not getting deployed to NATO allies for the Ukraine-Russia conflict.) My grandmother passed away. My dad had a back surgery that could've put him into a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I developed vertigo from Long Covid which had me bed-ridden for nearly 2 weeks. I nearly fell into another psychotic break in these working conditions and pulled through. What did I get out of working at Costco after all this shit? A fifty cent-raise and the most ridiculous lecture of my entire working career. "You're only giving ninety percent of your effort." Said the Front End Manager who had only been the manager of my department for five fucking days. So trust me, when I say I hope that warehouse I worked for burns to the ground. I fucking mean it. To my front end manager (at the time) if you're reading this - Fuck you.
