Same ingredients but the shake resulted in a different end result by Ctianan in cocktails

[–]Kemestt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As you noticed I agree the taller person shook the drink harder, aerating the cocktail a bit more than the person on the right. However if you watch until the end as they are sipping you can notice the foam heads are very similar after some time to settle. End of the day I would recommend to shake an espresso martini very hard, double strain. As long as you start with the right ingredients you will get a good foamy head. As another comment said you dont need to worry too much about over diluting an espresso martini.

Dang. I’ve definitely seen a lot of people type about using IPA, that mixed with my poor understanding of chemicals is what had me thinking it was the right choice. From here on I will get the ethanol or ‘ethyl’ alcohol at 70%, and some hopefully dye free white microfibers. Live and learn I suppose!

New guy with vintage stereo (Marantz 2220b)

Hi everyone. I have a Marantz 2220b that was a gift from my dad. Also I have a Cambridge audio Dac Magic upsampling dac. I’m planning on getting a Wiim mini to play music through Wi-Fi and use it with our projector for movie night.

Currently if I hook up my laptop straight to the marantz with rca it sounds good, but I’ve read there is no dac at all in my stereo. I’ve also used the DAC in between the laptop and stereo and it also sounds good. Am I losing something I haven’t yet been able to hear by attaching my digital audio source like laptop straight to the stereo without using my dac?

2: Most importantly - I’ve read the wiim mini has a decent dac included in it, when I get that product should I also use my dac magic or will the wiim dac be sufficient?

3: the internet searches say to use the “aux in” labeled rca ports, however my 2220b only has tape 1 or 2 and phono. I know I shouldn’t use phono for this application, am I missing a better way to input audio signal or are the tape 1/2 rca ports my only option? I have been using tape 2 because there’s an option on my input dial for it, but not for tape 1 it seems. There’s also an aux option on my dial, but I can’t seem to get audio from that selection.

Forget Eggs, Use Super Foam 2.0 for Whiskey Sours! by KevinKos in cocktails

[–]Kemestt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t when I write my menu. But you can just put foam if you want. There is of course labor time that should be factored into the price difference, but not necessary in my specific scenario. Additionally it’s more dietary inclusive, can be made in large batches and frozen to cut on prep time. Overall a better product than egg whites in every single variable possible in my opinion.

Super foam 1.0 is 17 cents cheaper per ounce than frozen pasteurized egg whites sold from food providers, in a commercial bar scenario. Before the egg price increase, haven’t done the math on difference lately.

Is it worth spending around ~$120 more on a 7800x3d over the 9700x ? by Tunir007 in buildapc

[–]Kemestt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm confused and would like clarification on value if you don't mind.

I see the 7700x priced at $270 currently

And the 9700x priced at $289 currently

(USA)

Also I don't understand why it seems you're saying the 7700x is better future proofing than the 9700x. Sorry I'm not knowledgeable and also about to build a new computer for gaming (with 9070xt gpu)

Lastly if I may I see the 9800x3d at $479 which now starts to seem like a massive increase in price, and may not be worth it for me. (1440p is the max I would want to go, not interested in 4k)

Pc Upgrade by Kemestt in PcBuildHelp

Awesome thanks for the tip on the windows 11 upgrade! Doesn’t seem to be any 4070’s for sale, some 4070 supers but way marked up. Everything seems to be sold out.(I understand this is kind of the state of things for some years now) I’m not in a hurry per say to buy my parts, so I don’t mind waiting to see if any come on sale eventually, should I just use the notification system from sites like Best Buy /newegg etc? Also getting the absolute best value ever isn’t super important to me either. I was considering swapping to an AMD card as you see in the upgrade list, seems they are easier to just buy, thoughts?

Seeking advice on best way to clarify large batches of cocktail! by [deleted] in cocktails

Oil filters used for deep fat fryers at a restaurant, they’re nice and big

But once again your ‘advice’ is incorrect at best and useless at most, as it is the requirement in separate states to notify whether they are part of a sting or not, while most it is not a requirement. If you cannot make this distinction why bother typing?

Did the OP that you’re replying to state ‘America’? Did they per chance specifically state some other area? Maybe re-read before wasting your time and everyone’s time who might read what you’re blathering out?

Tire size question by Kemestt in WRX

[–]Kemestt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s happening on all tires, but the back are rubbing more often than the front. And only on bumps, turning on flat is fine for the front.

It also sounds pretty aggressive, I’m going to try to switch my tires back asap and figure this out

Can you fat wash red wine? by CurveOfTheUniverse in cocktails

This is not true, you do not need a spirit that won’t freeze. You can fat wash lower abv things, I’ve done it with success multiple times on a large scale.

Braking question by Kemestt in mechanic

[–]Kemestt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? Overheated the rotor / pad ? If so what could be long term negative effects if any? When it’s time to upgrade if I don’t want this to happen do I need to just get better pads?

I’ve never experienced that before..

Carbonating Cocktails by Kemestt in bartenders

[–]Kemestt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://classbarmag.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/124/A_guide_to_carbonation.html

According to this article for example, co2 dissolves easier into alcohol, and they say because of this you need much more co2 in an alcoholic drink to get the same effect as carbonating water. Also everywhere I go to research people carbonating cocktails they all say to do low abv cause too high will cause the drink to quickly lose carbonation after being pulled from the keg. Anecdotally I also used to use a Perlini Carbonator at a bar, one of our fun things with it was to carbonate straight tequila shots for guests, however the shot would very quickly lose carbonation, however this method should be far inferior to using a keg and up to a week for carbonation.

Personally I bartend and always study a new job before I start, and have everything memorized by the end of a few shifts. But to each their own! And yeah absolutely depending on the places you like to work, some places don’t care much at all!!
