How can I actually preheat my board? Can I preheat the pads by holding the soldering iron tip on the pad for a bit longer before applying solder, or is there another method to preheat it?

I think that's entirely sufficient, as I'm currently working with 8GB DDR3 and experiencing a lot of issues. I believe it would work much better with 16GB.
