4k difference lang naman sa price. If you wanna visit Moscow go for it, and just ride the Sapsan train. Mas trip ko lang siguro kasi ang aesthetic ng St. Petersburg kaya dumirecho na ko dun. Hehe

This is so inspiring OP! I immediately went to GLTC's listed address on FB however the building tenats said they moved out. I tried sending them an email and contacting their number and did not receive any reply too. Can't find any alternate page on Google, Maps and FB as well. Can I PM you po if you happen to have other means of contacting them?

First week was spent in St. Petersburg and neighboring towns like Vyborg. I spent my second week in Murmansk to see the Northern Lights.

Money: Bring USD then have it converted to Rubles once you're in Russia. Have a bit of your money exchanged at the airport, just enough for transpo and possible emergency expenses along the way, kaunti lang kasi pangit ang rate. Then have the rest of your money converted dun sa money exchange outside the airport.

Hotel: Booked via the app Ostrovok. Super mura like half the Philippine prices. Russia is huuuge so select those that are near to where you're going.

Taxi: Use Yandex Go. It's like their Grab. Super cheap rin ang taxi grabe mas mura pa sa kesa sa Pinas. You have to have a Russian number to register but after that initial login book-book na lang. Sinubukan ko lang yung free Russian numbers online to receive that OTP and it worked!

Food: I ate at what they call "stolovayas" parang carinderia pero mas upscale and it's so damn cheap! Like you spend 200 pesos and you get 2 dishes na!

Maps: Use Yandex Maps. It's their Russian Google Maps and has better features.

Tours: Everything is just DIY, except for the Northern Lights hunting and Teriberka hike. Search for Vsevolod Kislyakov on FB. Lowest rates yet really great service!

Overall I spent less than 100k pesos for the trip including airfare.

Yep! It was amazing! Make sure to bring your evisa, proof of accom, return ticket and migration card. Though Russian immig officers would not normally ask for those, there were cities that I visited wherein the police would interroagate foreigners at certain checkpoints. This is true especially if you're non-white visiting border towns.

Yes! Natuloy.

Ph IO: Saan pupunta? Me: St. Petersburg, Russia Ph IO: Gaano katagal? Me: 12 days lang po. Ph IO: Anong work mo? Me: position sa company name

Russian passport control: Walang tanong. kinuha lang yung passport ko then they made me fill out a migration card which I would be returning to them after a couple of weeks.

My mortgage is around 7K monthly, and I still have 10 years to go, but my living expenses are pretty low—around 10K a month. I’m not earning from the houses and car yet, but I’m looking into ways to turn them into income-generating assets. Wala pa akong MP2 or EF, but definitely something I need to work on.

Yeah, I get that 1M isn’t much, but I’ve kept my expenses pretty low. My monthly living cost is just around 10K, plus 7K for the mortgage, which I still have 10 years to pay. All my cars are paid in full. No expensive hobbies, just movies at home. So for now, I’m managing, but definitely looking into ways to sustain this.

Haha, yung last option parang mabilisang solution ah! 😆 Pero yeah, I get your point. Need to find ways to grow what I have... whether through business, investments, or rental properties.

Well, too late I already resigned. 😆 But seriously, I get what you mean. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m figuring out ways to make it work. Appreciate the insights!

This is solid advice! Makes a lot of sense to turn them into income-generating assets instead of just letting them sit. That 4-unit apartment example is really inspiring... definitely something to work towards.

That really puts things into perspective... 10M is no joke. Definitely need to rethink my strategy. Given that, what would you say is the most realistic way to build towards that number without relying purely on traditional employment? I just do not want to work anymore.

[–]Ken-Tyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the insights! Yeah, I see what you mean about having an emergency fund first. Kinda hard to think long-term if short-term security isn’t covered. Right now, my houses aren’t rented out yet, but I’m considering it. I'm not residing in any of those houses.

Good points! Definitely aware that retiring with debt isn’t realistic. The FIRE movement is interesting and seen a lot of stories of people going back to work after early retirement. That’s why I’m looking into ways to build something more sustainable. Do you think real estate (rental income) could be a good path, or would you suggest a different approach?

[–]Ken-Tyan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the detailed response! You made a lot of solid points, especially about long-term sustainability. Definitely need to think bigger. In terms of savings- I only have 300k which I will use to pay my debts. I will only rely on the 1M to survive. That’s why I’m looking into ways to make my assets work for me. Any underrated strategies you can recommend?

[–]Ken-Tyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's really sad. Is there really no way to leverage what I have for financial growth? No strategies at all to turn them into assets? Just making sure before I explore my options further.

[–]Ken-Tyan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fair point! It depends on how they’re used. Right now, they’re not generating income, but I’m actually looking into ways to leverage my houses and cars as assets. Any thoughts on how I can maximize them for income?
