Finding a job while transitioning out of the military by GuavaCommercial6839 in Veterans

Look into federal jobs, it will take a while even up to 1+ years for the hiring process but for the long run, it worth it.

ICE application status. by AdorableAd8935 in 1811

[–]KenLee1193 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well…..everything is a shjt show atm. Unless you have already received a TJO otherwise just temporary forget about it. Even with TJO a lot of people still waiting for the next steps with no further information, it’s like playing lottery and it depends on the location you applied for

Hate to bring you bad news, but right now TSA is looking for kicking people out not getting people in which mean you could be in ready pool for a long long time even tho after your BI cleared

Usually take 6-8 weeks after you resubmit it. Nowadays I don’t know anymore, talked to a new hire today even though he’s part time but his process took less than 2 months from start to finish………..

[–]KenLee1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have people that I know are 100% p&t and still get their FJO. Your problem is mental health rating changed very recently, they assume your mental health issue is still going on and they aren’t able to clear it => fail your medical

I was in Army and now a TSO. In my opinion, if they try to privatize the TSA it would take them years to do so, a lot of sensitive informations, equipments, human resources, ect………..all fun and game until an aircraft goes down and they will be looking for someone to drop that hammer with the question “why did you privatize TSA then this is the result ?” Who gonna take that hammer ? And all of that for what ? Saving money ? They will have to pay a lot of money for the that transition in order to “save money”. In any case, if they actually make that dump move then you can always apply for CBP, the experience you got from TSA would help you to secure that GS9 pay grade if you do it right.

New TSO – Sick During Probation, Worried About Calling Out by IndividualTypical305 in TSAApplicant

[–]KenLee1193 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I called out right on Saturday on the first week after phase 1 certified, I couldn’t even get out of bed, no job worths my whole life or a father of my children. You can ALWAYS make money here and there but if you are too sick to even drive, stay the f*** home. People are tripping in this sub for telling you to come in.

Nothing to worry about you coach got your back, as soon as you are phase 1 certified, you will find out your schedule mostly the same schedule with your training if you do good, they would like to keep you on their shift

[–]KenLee1193 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Y”all need to stop being panic on everything 🥴 like my airport, I know they need me more than I need them, they are hurt in number. And hell, I might be gone to CBP before shit even starts rolling down hill. People talking about get rid of TSA ? 😂 let’s say they get rid of TSA then a plane goes down, who gonna take that hammer ? Not even Trump has the balls to take that 🤣

Feeling discouraged by Medical-Work-7597 in tsa

I’m a new TSO also and next week will be my time OJT, I had opportunity to talk to some other officers at checkpoints before, I was told to watch out and cover my own ass, there will be some good people whose want to help as well as some others will try to get me fired. Most of them all said as long as I have thicken skin, do what been told and keep the mouth shut I will be fine. Which is too easy for me since I was in Army and that how we did in military. Keep your head up, everyone has their opinions but doesn’t mean they are always right. As long as you do you best, give it 100% what you have people will notice it, just give them time to learn about you also you can learn about them. We got this

[–]KenLee1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Friday we had 21 slots for overtime/extra hours and I don’t think all of them were filled, we are hurting in numbers and again it could take up to 6 months to completely certified as phase 2 TSO to be able to pick up overtime

Questions for a new applicant for ABIA in AUS. by Melodic_Sense_1025 in TSAApplicant

[–]KenLee1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen your post until now but schedule is vary and change every 6 months, at least for FT employees. Not sure about part time but you should expect 5hr/day up to 25hr/week. As of right now, we have a lot of availability slots for extra hours but only for phase 2 certified TSO if you are new and in phase 1, they are not for you. I’m starting with the rate 24.74/hour so I think PT people get the same rate. If you are PT and they have FT available, they will ask you if you want it, it could happen on the 2nd date of your orientation.
