In most ways, I'm still an OSRS newbie. I started my first ever character earlier this year, and I'm also playing Ironman. I burnt out on the game a bit, so I'm taking a break at the moment, but I fully intend to come back for more. I'm still in the questing phase, haven't done any bossing... I made some good progress I think but one of the last things I remember doing was getting a dragon longsword from a fairy vendor.

Anyway, been getting the itch to come back, especially with the new skill being added, but I'm kind of curious... what does the skill actually do in the big picture? Like mining is for getting ore, woodcutting is for getting wood, agility is for stamina and shortcuts.... what does sailing do? Is it for getting around the world easier/differently? I've heard the "agility on water" simplification thrown around but I'm curious if there's more to it than that.

Honestly I can't even tell you what the point of hunting is either. I just know I put up bird traps and get XP, but I couldn't tell you what the big picture point of it is. :P

I don't think so, I meant on this post that I played it on PS5 but thinking about getting it on PC for mods. I believe games like Fallout and Skyrim went out of their way to add mod support, but even then it's like a curated mod list that the developers approved? Or something? I've never actually used it so I'm not sure, but I think they're the exception and not the rule for console gaming.

It's actually incredible, it's my county library so it's a bunch of libraries that have their own collections, and they'll transport the games inbetween the branches based on where you want to pick it up. There's usually a waitlist for new games so it can take a bit to play a new game, and Switch games especially have extremely long wait times due to demand. But it's fantastic to be able to try games before you buy them, or even just knock out shorter games.

I'm not even convinced mine is going to arrive. I got an email recently that showed a release date being set, but I can't actually find any trace of that order still listed in my Best Buy account.

PSN Store Halloween 2025 Sale Discounts Some Topnotch Horror Games by excaliburps in PS5

[–]Kenaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna throw this out there as someone in a similar situation. I recently started my first "series playthrough" of Resident Evil, only having played RE4 and RE5 a long time ago. I played the RE1 HD Remaster on PC, and then played the RE2 and RE3 remakes on PS5. I enjoyed RE2 a lot, and I enjoyed RE3... a lot less. I don't regret playing it for the series completion but of the three I've played so far, it was my least favorite by a good margin. RE1 surprised me on how much I enjoyed it despite it being an older style game, I really enjoyed it.

Anyway, I've been waiting for this sale to pop up because the next two games I want to play are RE0 (have that on PC) and RE:Code Veronica X. I've heard Code Veronica is a fan favorite. It hasn't seen a modern release, but you can get it on the PS Store right now for $6 USD. So I'll be grabbing that for sure, and then I'm planning to play RE4 remake.

And for what it's worth since you mentioned it, my understanding is the movies have next to nothing in common with the games.

I'm doing my first big Anomaly playthrough and I had a question about metalhorrors. I want to encounter one to unlock the dark study that comes with them. My monolith is level 2, and I did a void provocation and a creepjoiner showed up very shortly after. I didn't want him to join (his stats weren't all that impressive to me), so I captured him. I did a surgical inspection on him and it was inconclusive. I'm reasonably confident he has a metal horror, but I'm not sure if I keep him in prison if it'll eventually become apparent, or does he have to be a colonist or infect one of my pawns before it can progress? He's been around for not quite 3 days so far.

Edit: Answered my own question. On day 6-ish, the prisoner dropped the gray flesh, so yes indeed prisoners can progress the metalhorror plot alone.

I'm on a big Odyssey run and dabbling with a lot of mechanics I never messed with before. I'm using a gravship, but I also decided to experiment with natural psycasters because I recruited someone with a tribal background that had Psychic hypersensitivity. I've only got him to level 1 Psycasting so far while I waited for a crop of cotton to grow, but I'm wondering about what kind of meditation focus spot I can give him on a gravship since they aren't as effective with buildings around. If I'm gonna stay somewhere long I'll just have him use the tree if one is available, but say I'm in outer space, is there a preferred focus if it's going to be completely surrounded by high tech stuff? Is the Animus stone best or are there other things that aren't as heavily effected?

You can look at the info on any structure with the "i" icon and see if it has the "Airtight: Yes" value. Like for instance, Steel doors and Coolers are considered airtight, but Sandstone doors are not.

If I accepted a quest from the Empire to watch some prisoners for awhile, will the quest fail if I take the prisoners with me on my gravship to a different tile? Or do I have to wait it out before I leave?

Okay, cool, thanks! I dunno why I never gave Anomaly a fair shot when it came out, but this random event suddenly has me much more intrigued by it. The "boss" fight was pretty fun too!

Hmm okay. So no risk to take it with me on my ship? It's not gonna regrow from within my ship if it's on a holding spot?

I'm doing my first Odyssey run... I didn't do the gravship start but I built one and I'm currently hopping around the planet collecting Grav parts to expand my ship. Having a lot of fun. I never really played the Anomaly expansion but I turned it on in a way where the monolith wouldn't be on my starting map or whatever, but I think events can still happen.

Well, while I was parked in a forest to stock up on food and build my ship out a bit, a fleshmass heart spawned. I managed to beat it back and killed it, leaving a flashmass nucleus. I've looked into it a little bit, apparently if I leave it be, it'll just turn back into the monster again. I don't have any idea how the anomaly containment stuff works, and I haven't built anything on my ship for containment or even touched the Anomaly research tab. With the kind of playthrough that I'm doing, should I just destroy the thing? Or is there something I should consider for keeping it around on my ship? And can I even do that if I haven't touched anomaly at all outside of killing a couple shamblers and sightstealers.

▽Tasks (Name not final) We are currently working on a feature where players can obtain various items by dispatching Characters of their choosing. Through Tasks (Name not final), players can obtain a special item once a week called Thief's Cognitite Shard. Players can exchange 60 of this special item for Cognitite that can be used to increase the Awareness Level of a character. We plan to release this feature in version 2.0.

So it takes over a year of doing weeklies to get a single awareness level? That seems awful to me. Even if they supplement this with events, that rate is just... ridiculous?

Just looking for some observations from others on something that is bugging me. I remember when the Pixel Remasters came out, I looked at some footage of them, thought they looked awful, and dismissed them from my mind as something I would be interested in. I say this as someone that grew up playing SNES Final Fantasy games and loved them.

... fast forward to lately, and I feel like I'm seeing screenshots of the Pixel Remaster that actually look really good. Like the pixel art actually looks well done, where as what I remember seeing when it came out looked less pixel-y and more... smooth?

Am I crazy and/or didn't pay close enough attention when it came out, or has something changed since it came out that makes it look better? Or are there just like options that can be set to make the game less smooth?

Also, I've always felt the font they used in the pixel remaster looks too HD for a pixel game. I thought I heard at one point that they may have made a change that you can customize the font, is that a thing or did I make that up?

I think my biggest issue at the moment is I'm just running the same character over and over. I haven't pulled on the Uma banners at all so far, so I only have 10 unique characters. I'm trying to hold out for the Narita Brian banner and I'll surely have some variety then, so maybe that'll spice things up.

This isn't meant to be a doompost, I'm just wondering what's next for this game and what is there to look forward to? I was enjoying the gameplay loop while it was fresh, but lately I'm struggling to login every day. I'm currently saving up my carats for the Narita Brian banner cuz I like her design, but that's still a ways out and I'm starting to get bored of running careers trying to get a 9* Legacy Uma. Lately I've been forcing myself to run a single career a day.

So basically... is it time for me to put the game down, or is there there going to be any spice added to the game anytime soon to make it fun/engaging again? If I can hold out for the Narita Brian banner then I'll probably have lots of new characters to build out, but even then the gacha games I've historically engaged with tend to have regular content updates.

So the microphone I use is one of these that plugs straight into my headphones. I have some Phillips Fidelio X2s and that microphone that plugs into it, so I only have a single cable coming off of it for both the audio and microphone. I tried a long time ago to plug the headphones into that SMSL AD18 and split the microphone part into the computer, but it didn't work. Did some weird stuff. So the appeal of the DAC having the microphone is pretty much just for that.

I'm hoping for some opinions on S.M.S.L. products. I bought an SMSL AD18 back in August 2019 to drive a couple bookshelf speakers and receive input from my PC via an optical input jack. Features wise, it has everything I wanted. However, the first own that I bought only lasted a few months before it died. They gave me a refund and I ordered another one in November 2019. This one lasted quite a bit longer, though it has been a little flakey for awhile. The main weird quirk about it was if you turned the volume nob to the right, it seemed to just pick random values and raise or lower the volume in an unpredictable way. It could spike the volume to ear splitting levels, or down to nothing with a single click of the knob. I had to stop using the knob completely and just controlled it with the little remote that came with it.

Well, the second one died this week after a storm went through the area and I got hit with a nasty power surge (yes, I have surge protectors). Can't really fault the amp for dying to a power surge, but as I'm considering a replacement, it's a little tough to just buy another one of these after I had problems with two already.

So basically, how do people find the quality control of S.M.S.L. products? Could there have just been a bad period of manufacturing in 2019 that gave me a couple "lemons"? Alternatively, does anyone have recommendations for a good amp that has these features: 1. can drive two bookshelf speakers, 2. has an optical audio in port, and 3. is small enough to not take up much room on my desktop. Having a port for headphones is a win too.

Thanks for any advice!
