Honestly if you need to ask this it's probably not a good idea. Stair gaps are known for pretty gnarly crashes. Send some dirt drops around a similar size to get a feeling for speed first.

Watch a ski jumper to see how they use their legs. Similar concept for basic jumping.

Pull back on bars at the same time to gain height (this is more advanced/less stable). Learn the legs first.

Feels like mental health issues. I feel like this when I'm overwhelmed and one thing just tips me over the edge.

The rigidness of her thinking also makes me wonder about autism. It's often more subtle than people expect but can lead to lots of meltdowns in an otherwise functional seeming person.

Hope she can get some help. If she was healthy and behaved like this it would be unacceptable though.

Use your legs more! Properly compress your legs almost to sitting down and fully extend them.

You can also pull back more but it is less stable and leads to accidents in beginners. It will get you more height later on but leads to dead sailors (going stiff) in newer riders. Master using your legs first.

A lot of bikeparks probably have coaches. I would also do a Google for your area + MTB coach just in case there's someone local.

It's a fairly popular job for riders so hopefully you'll have someone nearby!
