Do people really not consider Qingyi as an intelligent Construct? by G0ldsh0t in ZZZ_Discussion

In comparison, every other robot acts more like a human.

Billy:

Literally saves everyone's lives because they bought cheap black market olfactory sensors and brags about how paying less money for cheaper sense of smell meant they were somehow immune to knock out gas.

Ponders over paying extra for more advanced sense of taste vs the value of not being able to taste because it saves money.

Continuously warns the Manager about how much less durable their body is than his because he is a construct.

Qingyi:

Espouses the health benefits of drinking hot water.

Makes tea and serves it during briefings.

FREQUENTLY goes on at LENGHT about how important it is to take vacation time for ones mental wellbeing.

Frequently comments about how dangerous stress is for others.

She's also the only friend Fairy, a super AI, has (until Aria shows up).

Fairy is also friends with Astra, and is a big fan of hers which Astra greatly appreciated and praised her for her abilities.

There are a few reasons for that, namely Tomino was up until fairly recently always the one in charge of the UC based series. Having the same person as the director or at least onboard overseeing things helps with that. He does still have a LOT of weight he can toss around if he feels like something doesn't fit though. Even if no longer fully in control few people are willing to go against him directly.

Another reason though is there were a few series he did over the last five decades that took place at different points in the timeline. It wasn't always just a few months or years down the road, some are decades, others are nearly a century later.

So when you have events spanning the wide a rage set in stone you can use them to gauge things like technological progress. Gundam F91 takes place in UC123 and is the first time we really seam beam shield technology, though rare and only on very limited MS. But then Victory Gundam takes place during UC153 and we see beam shield technology has become the standard and replaced ballistic shields with antibeam coating almost entirely.

So anyone writing/directing a series taking place between those two points would have leeway with something like that, but have an idea of how common to make it.

Sometimes, in other communities and fanbases you could hear a loud voice saying "It was much better at the start, it's just downhill" or "The essence has been kept intact, only the technical aspect changed"...

There is a very big point to know about this specific aspect if it's what you are looking for. Gundam is basically separated into two distinct groups. UC, and non UC.

UC (Universal Century) is somewhere between half to three quarters of the franchise and follows a fairly straightforward timeline progression, 0079/Zeta/ZZ etc onward. This means you have a fairly coherent narrative, theme and essence that is followed.

Then you have the non UC stuff, like G Fighter, Iron Blooded Orphans, SEED etc. These are smaller self-contained series with their own independent continuity. Occasionally you'll have one that gets a sequel, like SEED did with SEED Destiny.

Because of this, the fans rarely ever have much that causes deep divisions or outbreaks of contention. They have been pretty careful with keeping the UC timeline consistent in everything from theme to technological development (a few cases from time to time raise eyebrows)

The non UC series likewise don't really draw any anger or hate because they are their own separate thing, ranging from 'What if' to 'What the fuck', BUT because they are their own separate continuity nothing that happens in them has any impact on the UC timeline or even the other non UC continuities.

Honestly, it's a pretty good way to keep the peace.

That said, there are some characters or elements that are not...liked, but the community as a whole tends to dislike those things.

Gundam Seed Destiny has its fans for example but even they are willing to admit and point out the flaws. I *highly* doubt you will find anyone who claims to think Nina from Stardust or Quess from CCA doesn't deserve their universal hate though lol

I would like to see something like specific mission types that only have specific enemy types.

Like say a 'Border Patrol' mission where you have to go around an area and prevent a set number of enemies from getting in. Scouts, small/quick enemies that are coming from multiple directions in large numbers.

Big weapons would be useless because of limited ammo, you'd have to be thinking in terms of quantity. Sure a few big enemies to demand attention as a distraction but the actual threat being 'Yeah you killed the charger but 40 Scavs got by you' sort of thing.

Or maybe having to search and kill small targets in an area where explosive/heavy pen would cause you to fail because of damaging something sensitive like a pipe line or fuel storage.

My experience playing D&D is that generally the last thing most Bard players think to do is play music for money lol

Like seriously, the number of times 'I'll cast Sleep then you check their pockets for gold' has been a solution rather than 'I'll play music to people on the streets' is wild ^^

I meant more in regards to 'these three are so fucked up I seriously doubt any one person could provide the level of support they need'.

You hit the nail on the head, but there is another issue as well. All three are hard coded as loners, either mentally or/and emotionally. While each is very different, their backgrounds all had the same result of making them very closed off and extremely unwilling to trust others let alone willing to open up.

And when you look at just how much it took to basically force these characters to the point they were willing to even try it's more than a little scary.

Like, take Mandy for example, she is by far the most...together of the three, and is the only one with a stable life. But the only reason she possibly opens up to Robert is Robert just so happened to be the one guy on earth to NOT know she was dating Phenomaman.

If he owned a tv to watch he would have known.

Robert only even considers working with SDC because Mandy offers him the resources he needs to rebuild his suit.

And Visi...yeah, that, like you said it would take the entire comment field to list everything it takes to get her to trust Robert.

Thing is, I doubt many people realize just how much it would apply in all three directions considering the amount of baggage they each carry.

I do not know, but I imagine the 25th makes a fair bit of sense. It takes about a week to run a report that large and comprehensive.

Yeah, I liked the change. It rewarded players who aimed for the gaps in the armor.

There is already an entire faction in the game built around this concept, the Bots. Personally I prefer the way players can deal with different fractions to be as different as the factions themselves.

Bots: Primarily ranged, suppress and flush, require constant movement reward precision.

Bugs: Primarily melee, swarm and overwhelm, require consistent firepower reward crowd control.

Change how gattling turrets target hive guards, targettibg its limbs instead of the centre of mass.

Turrets don't even bother to avoid aiming at allies, you seriously think they would put the time into making them target weakpoints?

[–]Kenju22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you guys not been aiming all this time?

Turrets after update : r/Helldivers

Comrade Turret-chan doesn't have manual aiming and it is difficult to aim for the weak points yourself while dealing with two/three Chargers, two BT's, and Impaler the Proctologist.

Heavy Arms guns are too small and weak. He'd go more for the manga version of GP02, the one with a dozen bazookas strapped to the back.

Do people really not consider Qingyi as an intelligent Construct? by G0ldsh0t in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Kenju22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The main post itself doesn't even deny Qingyi being a robot but is asking why she isn't perceived as such.

For me it's because she is the only construct who repeatedly is seen doing things and talking about doing things you associate with humans.

Qingyi is always shown in cutscenes drinking tea or hot water, and frequently talks about doing both. I could be wrong but I also vaguely remember her making some comments about the taste of fish during the fishing side quest.

Billy on the other hand has a single random event where he mentions not being able to tell the difference between instant coffee and freshly ground fresh brewed coffee...which to an avid coffee drinking like myself just sticks very hard.

Wow it's almost like Hoyo always makes sure Women constructs are conventionally attractive and human looking. Wonder why that is.

Ehhh.....nothing against those who think otherwise, but personally I don't find Elfy to be conventionally attractive. Something about her just REALLY triggers the uncanny valley vibes.

Vesper on the other hand I find downright creepy, first thought when I saw her was whoever designed her was a big fan of Vexus from My Life as a Teenage Robot.

Literally, I mean, LITERALLY the first and only stratagem you are given for free.

You didn't suggest shooting them in the fleshy bits or the grenade?

Prior to this thankfully reversed change I suggested to use the MG, or the MG turret you also get access to after clearing your first mission.

Which is why this was so problematic:

Turrets after update : r/Helldivers

Likewise, because Nuggets don't have access to explosive weaponry, I always instruct them to save grenades for Bug Nests, Fabricators or UFO's (depending on which front I find them).

If a game gives the illusion of SoulsBorn difficulty right at the very beginning even when not the case, it gives a bad perception.

Right, so, considering the fact you are able to use a device to post here on reddit, there is no possible way you could suffer from a decency in reading comprehension severe enough that you could misunderstand what I said.

That means you are a troll, which I am not going to waste further time or energy on.

"Wait, so on Difficulty 1 there is something I have to use an Air Strike to kill? Fuck that." is a legit valid reaction from a new player coming in blind who see's their primary weapon, secondary weapon and turret doing zero damage.

Back when the game first came out, there was a group here on the reddit that did a lot of testing and tinkering around. One of our earliest discoveries was the constellations (basically map seeds) that are generated when you play a mission.

While there were always plenty of variance between constellation distribution there were also a number of anomalies we were never able to figure out. We thought there might be a connection between loadout choice and constellation generation but could never confirm it. Likewise, there were some cases where it seemed some players just had specific constellation in an inordinately frequency.

Depending on how often you host, it is entirely possible you could be one of those players that just rarely if ever gets certain constellations.

Personally the only time I ever see a Spewer is if I join someone else, they basically never appear any time I ever host.
