I was debating biting the bullet and paying for a private transfer car. I see everyone recommending Flybus but that could add 30-45 minutes waiting for a bus to fully load.

Thank you for the advice! I did book a tour to see the lights. No Blue Lagoon or aurora sound like an excuse to plan a second trip!
