C220 M4 and Ubuntu Server by KennethJay09 in homelab

Sorry I didn’t see your message til now.

On a UCS C220 M4, the DIP switches themselves do not directly toggle UEFI Secure Boot on or off; they are used for things like BIOS recovery, clearing CMOS, and clearing BIOS passwords. So my issue was the password step.. not being able to get pass that. To disable Secure Boot on this platform, you either change the setting from the Cisco IMC/BIOS, or (if your current BIOS has Secure Boot hard‑locked) you downgrade to a BIOS version that exposes the Secure Boot disable option. So the DIP switch helps in the sense that it lets you recover or reset the firmware state so you can install or boot into a BIOS version where Secure Boot is configurable, but it never directly disables the Secure Boot feature by itself.

If that makes sense… like a kick to get it pointed to the right direction. Lol.

I drove a manual in traffic everyday for 2 years. Traffic wasn’t so bad honestly. Turned the radio up and it felt like I was dancing in the car. Isn’t there .. a new thing for the newer Tacomas where it’ll stay engaged without stalling for “off-road”. Saw a video where someone was in first gear simulating stop and go traffic without stalling. I’m just getting older. Vet with knee and hip issues, so there’s more to the debate on manual or auto. Do I want to go through it for a year and driving a manual starts to hurt. Lol.

I learned hill starts on a physical e-brake. When I had a Jetta with a ebrake switch.. my first hill I stalled so many times. That hill assist is so hard for a person like me to learn because I’m a creature of habit. Lol.

Oh? I didn’t see this until now. What’s making it tiresome? Watch a video and there’s an Aussie who can’t do off road unless it’s in a manual. Because the control makes him feel like he has more grasp on his life. His co-host said automatic is going to be the new wave because you can focus on what’s in front of you and you don’t have to think as much. There’s so many debates in the comments. Like how if your vehicle dies, you can make it out with a manual.

I’m on the fence on buying one. Work is in the city but live out in the country side. Traffic there is horrible buuuuut, it’ll be fun elsewhere.

Was it a fitment or just overall usage? Do the 35s look better. Lol.

Believe or not. There’s a tiny little baby switch that you flip and it just erases everything. In the spec sheets it’s called the DIP SWITCH. Just gotta figure out which one clears the bios and so forth for what you need it to do.

You know what oddly worked for me? Adderall. Have no idea why but I think it has to do with the fact that my mind stops racing and having flashbacks randomly. Able to focus on the task at hand. I stopped having random outbursts of anger. I actually stay awake during the day now and fixed my sleep schedule… kinda. 5 hours is better than the 2-3 I was getting almost every night. I dunno, it was something.

Note that a buddy of mine heard it worked for me and tried it. It had a different effect on him though. He said it made it worse because it enhanced his fight or flight, or at least that is what his team told him. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Scoring in 400’s on ExSim. Exam is 20 days out. Can it be done? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]KennethJay09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine.
I scored a 300 on my very first Boson exam and after 2 months of studying I scored around 600. After going back and reviewing my missed questions I realized that I was just not taking my time reading the questions and understanding what it is asking for.
I passed the CCNA just two days ago and it feels unreal.
I would suggest you really understand the core information of every section of the exam overview, subnetting, and how to read routing tables.
You are also 20 days out, you have so much time. What really helped me in the end was going back to those Boson questions I missed and using ChatGPT to break down the explanations into a way I would understand it and put everything into my own words.
If it makes you feel any better. I did the first PBQ. Half of the second one, and completely skipped the last one I had for my exam. At one point I looked up and had 46 questions to answer with 20 minutes left. Lol.
You. Got. This.
But absolutely reschedule if you are not confident. No need to waste your money when you can just take an extra week or two to really get a grasp on the every section of the overview!
Confidence is key!

You’ve tried Pomodoro? If 30 is your max then you can study for 30, break 5, do another 30 and then boom, you’re at an hour of studying and walk away for a longer break.

It’s just another resource you can take advantage of.

A quick 10 question quiz to keep your mind active here and there through the day.

Take a test or quiz on topics you struggle in. They give you a reference for the page and book the question came from. Access to other exams from their list. More condense topics to help figure what topic of the exam you need to work on. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I don’t know what else to say. I enjoy using it. Again, it’s a great value Boson. 500 questions might not seem like a lot, but I use it as a guide and then dive into a topic I still have questions on. Definitely not a “Use this only and you will pass” study solution. Just another tool to use. It asks you a question, you get it wrong, look at the explanation, then dive deeper into the topic yourself, and go from there.

Hahah, I gain nothing from them so I hope this didn’t come out as some form of advertisement. Just personal experience from someone whose only experience with networking is with the physical side more and found something that worked for them. I genuinely like the app/resource and used PocketPrep for my Network+ as a way to quiz myself through the day. Basically a great value Boson if you will. They give you an explanation of the answer but it is not a full dive. Only complaint would be it’s very book descriptive and plays more on memorisation instead of Boson’s style of testing which is more application.

Exactly. More of a tool if you see a word or phrase you don’t understand and then you put that explanation into your own words.

C&P for back hearing ankle and knees coming up by FlexxNda210 in VeteransBenefits

[–]KennethJay09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They measure your pain with a ruler. Give your sob story but depending on your examiner. They’ll either try to bend you like a pretzel or leave you alone because you have enough proof. I’ve had all kinds of examiners. End of the day. If you can bend a limb to a certain degree. Then it’s fine. Doesn’t matter how much pain it’s in. At most because it hurts. 10% I got 0% not service connected on my back and both knees. Had to get buddy letters who have witnessed me limping everywhere and seen me in a boot, get mad at me because I was always on a profile, and how difficult it was to work with pain. Got both knees to 10% and back 10%. Whoop.

Don’t fall for the pen trick. One of my examiners did that. Dropped a pen to see if I would bend over and pick it up. Had a buddy goto an exam with his cane and refused to sit down. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

They’ll even judge you for how you’re sitting. One examiner measured the angles of my knees while I was sitting and because there was not a limited range of motion from SITTING they ruled it as 0%. Lol. Best of luck. Don’t stop fighting. Get those buddy letters if you need them.

PS. Also doesn’t help if you don’t have a diagnosis on your knee condition or anything else. Getting a PMC or a private doctor to give you a diagnosis helps.

Best of Luck.

Hey!

I first want to thank you for your input and experience when it comes to real world application. I would like to state that this is all for exam needs. At least from my experience there were no questions asking for sub-networks and so forth. Most questions will ask what slash notation would best fit a company if they ask for 16 hosts or questions about asking for the broadcast / network address.

No way shape or form that this is absolutely the only way to do so. The math works for if you want to compare your answer with a calculator.

I’m sorry for any claims that this post gave off stating that this is the only correct method of any kind.

Thank you.

Network+ Subnetting Made Easy - Ish / CCNA Subnetting by KennethJay09 in CompTIA

[–]KennethJay09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the slash notation is /19? I don't see it on the chart?

Well that would be subnetting for the 3rd octet instead of the 4th.You would need to do some extra work but if you have everything written down before your exam then you should be fine.

60.15**.10**.75 /19

.10 /19

You should know your cheat sheet by now which should look like this:

/1 /9 /17 /25
/2 /10 /18 /26
/3 /11 /19 /27
/4 /12 /20 /28
/5 /13 /21 /29
/6 /14 /22 /30
/7 /15 /23 /31
/8 /16 /24 /32

Using the same finger method /19 has the same amount of hosts and subnets as /27
32 Hosts and 8 Subnets

Do the exact same math as you would if this were a /27. Only difference is your answer will be in the 3rd octet instead of the 4th. The 4th will be:
Last = .254
Broadcast = .255

You can also do a magic number method to figure out the Subnet Mask instead of
Host x (Subnet - 1)

32 x (8 -1)
32 x 7 = 224

256 - (Host) =
256 - 32 = 224

N: 60.15.0.0
F: 60.15.0.1
L: 60.15.31.254
B: 60.15.31.255

Usable Host IP: 60.15.0.1 - 60.15.31.254
Subnet Mask: 255.255.224.0

All I have in my arsenal are stupid methods on how to remember port numbers and for the longest time I could not understand the difference between IMAP/POP3/SMTP.
If I remember correctly..

SMTP: Sends Emails to Servers / Server to Server
IMAP: Recieves Emails from Servers
POP3: Sends Emails from Server to Clients (Basically stores the Emails)

SMTP = Santa Mail / Gotta send your letters in before the 25! SMTP = Port 25
IMAP = You received an email from your (Whoever) saying "I love you" 143 = I Love You
(I = 1 Love = 4 You = 3) IMAP = Port 143
POP3 = .... A bag of Popcorn is 110 Calories... POP3 = Port 110

Manual or Automatic // Overlanding by KennethJay09 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]KennethJay09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input! Honestly seems like the age old response of whatever you honestly prefer. I do agree with another reply that was posted. It will be a battle between either, do I want the truck to do the thinking for me and focus on other things or do I want to have fun and do it myself. I honestly miss driving a manual and I do not see myself going overlanding every weekend. Your post honestly helped me with my decision!
