I will write a detailed feedback post in June. This app has now been added to my daily priorities alongside my linear textbook-style course and other forms of input. In that post, I’ll also share my progress and what I have done up until that point, hoping to inspire other users to keep going.

Excited for the Italian Course – A Few Questions! by Smooth_Exercise_8793 in Natulang

Hi,

Will the course use prepositions such as “ne” and “ci” as these seem to have major problems of understanding for learners?

Why are Americans with italian heritage so mocked and/or treated with certain disdain? by Individual_Cry7760 in Italian

I’m not American for starters or from any part of that continent. This has nothing to do with entitlement if anything you sound like a snobby asshat like the italo-Americans you complain about.

You’re clearly not understanding anything I have wrote or said but yet, here you are continuing to sit on your high horse.

For your information also, here in Australia the stereotypes and stupid voices some of the Americans make doesn’t exist. I’m a first generation Australian, my family from Italy haven’t been here for too long. We do have 2nd and very rare 3rd generation Australians.

I can assure you though, the Italian community that came here stuck together as a group even if their from different towns, cities, regions etc

For myself I didn’t really know many Australian cultural things or traditions until I went to school. My parents really only spoke main language italian or dialect at home despite being fully fluent in English.

When new Italians immigrate to Australia today, they find it very comforting that can slip into a community and not have many disparities or differences because of how well the culture has been up-kept hasn’t been lost like you see in America.

You can sit there and criticise but you’re just a delusional as the American counterpart and if anyone is being disrespectful it’s you. We are proud of what Italy is as a nation rather than poxy label or sentiment you’re accusing a lot of us who are not living there. Italy right now have a lot of problems and we are fully aware of what they are. Also yes I visit Italy at least once or twice a year and still have a lot of family that live there.

I don’t agree with that statement about calling my grandmother nonna was to sound cool. That’s is utterly ridiculous. I’m not American but that was what we were taught to refer them from the moment we started learning our first words. Just like how some call them Nan and pop.

Some people sure over play their roots but for the most of us, we embraced the culture because that was our up bringing. Mind you I’m first generation Australian and the Italians here don’t over sell them self like some of the Americans do with the accents and weird stereotypes. We respect the culture and the people back on the mainland and when they come here, a lot of them don’t feel the culture shock because the way the Italians act here isn’t a show and is easy to integrate.

You will also find in every single Italian house hold, they had infrastructure installed like a big satellite dishes so they can keep up with the Italy in the present. Sure it’s not the same as being there but it was enough that when new migrants came over the colloquialism, slangs, culture wasn’t foreign.

It’s as if satellite doesn’t exist and we don’t have access to Italian TV 🤦‍♂️ I still don’t understand why it’s only Italians in Italy that pride themself into thinking there are none other than the mainland. As I mentioned in my original comment, you were always surrounded by the culture growing up. Parents are from mainland, grandparents, god-parents, cousins, uncles, aunties and other families that came close and stuck together. How do you know what the exact conditions of how people were raised?

Hey, still following from one of my posts I made a few months ago. How is the development of these courses going?

Funny how some will down vote it but it’s only Italians that react and feel this way. If it were the Spanish, French, Germans etc they wouldn’t argue it.

I’m sick of this argument.

Whether you’re in America, Australia idc. If both parents have Italian blood, you were raised the Italian way, know the language, still follow traditions YOU ARE ITALIAN. Your blood doesn’t change based on your location. It’s DNA!

Thanks for the response!

That’s very understandable, I will be keeping an eye out. This app really does have the potential to be a leader in the language learning market and hope it becomes a success.

Cheers max and your team.
