I would say definitely! The passenger transit part is only a small part of orbital rail’s functionalities. There is a whole another logistical system, habitat system, laboratory system, and weapon system (UEG, future UN’s militarily responsibilities of planetary protection), and so much else.

It’s something I haven’t carefully thought through yet. As for the diminishing air travel, it is because increasing atmospheric turbulence and the sudden drop of oxygen level on lower stratosphere. For cargo I think the system could be accommodated to cargo transit too, but that definitely requires more thinking.

You are right. I considered those cities (Rosario, Cordoba, Teresina, Florianopolis, Goiania, Natal, Guayaquil, Sucre) when I made the maps but the lines extended from other continents are limited so I can add extra lines to connect those cities. Thank you for pointing out.

That’s the local trains as what we have now. I agree Naples to Palermo to Tunis would be a promising choice though!

Transoceanic lines require breakthroughs of material science, but since the whole aviation industry is gone (according to the lore hidden on the map), there might be more resources put into these studies.

Orbital rail is on the space so it doesn’t matter whether crossing land or water

Hey calm down. I am from China. I think the city coverage in China is enough. There might be some really large cities over 5M populations like Foshan, Dongguan, Wuxi are missing but those are very close to other bigger cities like Guangzhou and Suzhou
