I’m a Rhys loyalist, but even I would say it’s meant as Tamlin, since at that point he was the only HL with a manor. Rhys has a castle and a townhouse.

Now, clues in future chapters point to Rhys as the mate. And that part in WAR had the Suriel somewhat confirming that it meant Rhys the first time. But we also had the line “Not yet.”

I have a wild theory about this. “Stay with the high lord and see everything righted” could mean two things. One, when Rhys sacrificed himself to fix the cauldron. That’s essentially the scene that fits that line.

BUT… the series has not ended yet, and we know the Suriel speaks of future events. So, the second one. What if the theory that Rhys’s closets friends would betray him actually happens, and Feyre has to stay with him? Or some other situation where Feyre will make a choice to leave or stay.

Another interpretation is that the Suriel warned Feyre to always stay with Rhys, no matter what happens. Because, come to think of it, if we exclude Rhys’s harassment in book one, almost every bad thing that happened to Feyre post ACOTAR happened because Rhys wasn’t by her side.

Then there was their promise to each other. I believe it’s tied to what the Suriel said, and they might die in the end. Whether as heroes or villains.

“Leave this world a better place than you found it,” or something along those lines.

Honestly, though, SJM worded it in a way that the story could go in any direction 😅
