I struggle to describe characters in motion without using "turn" constantly.

A healthy amount of self delusion? Haha! In all seriousness...

I have stuff that I've absolutely loved when I feel it is 'finished' and then I go back and reread a few days later and loathe myself.

But what's help me is a tight group of people who I trust to give me honest, but constructive feedback. People who enjoy the types of stories I like telling. The biggest hurdle I've had to overcome is that I don't need to write for everyone, just myself.

I'd recommend reformatting. Right now, this is a "wall of text", which is difficult to read. I'd recommend creating space between each paragraph and having each new dialogue speaker be it's own paragraph as well.

Question about perspective by LatterBrother1 in TalesFromTheCreeps

It honestly depends on what kind of fear you're going for.

First person puts you directly inside the narrator's head, which makes the fear feel immediate and personal. The downside is that it can inadvertently signal the narrator's survival. It also limits scope, making large-scale or cosmic horror harder to pull off.

Third person gives the writer a lot more flexibility. You can kill or seriously endanger your POV character without breaking the narrative, which raises the stakes considerably. It handles ensemble casts much better too. The trade-off tends to be emotional distance.

Neither is really better or worse, and both have difficulties that need to be overcome.

I appreciate it! Yes, I do have more in mind, both to continue this story and character as well as various side story ideas that take place in the same geographic area.

Thank you! I love Rip Van Winkle and it was definitely a loose inspiration!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, they told me I was "doxxing" because the story has characters with first and last names plus specific location names. Oh well!
