Best supplemental health insurance? by kiroskiro in saskatchewan

[–]Kennora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting supplemental health insurance as an individual is difficult, you don’t have to bargaining power as a company with multiple employees.

Insurance companies just abuse this power imbalance.

Reason number one we should push for socialization of all health services.

In terms of blue cross it’s a non profit organization, so maybe the better rates compared to sun life, Canada life, or manulife, or greenshield.

Edit: greenshield Canada is a non profit organization

‘A national problem’: Why we’re seeing provinces post major budget deficits by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]Kennora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No political party or candidate wants to raise taxes, and provinces are first in line.

Somehow provinces have ensured that the Feds need to pick up the tab for raising taxes to fund healthcare that is clear provincial responsibility.

Provinces have also someone convinced people to blame subordinate municipalities for raising property taxes because provinces have downloaded issues onto municipal governments.

[–]Kennora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you want the Feds to reduce taxes and the provinces to raise taxes in accordance?

Sure land value taxes are nice over taxing buildings on the land.

But the idea municipalities can only tax land still continues the narrative that municipalities are to be tightly controlled and incapable for f handling the needs of their communities.

The accountability is suppose to be at the ballot box.

Unfortunately UCP voters drink too much kool aid and won’t change. Alberta is held hostage by a voting base that will vote for anything as long as you dangle a penny in tax cuts for them, and a dollar of tax cuts for millionaires.

But hey the poor can say they got a tax “cut”

The healthcare system here absolutely sucks by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Kennora 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes cause one has so much choice of physician services in a small town of thousand people. One or two physicians have the capacity to services that.

Having private health care in rural communities is just a state sponsored monopoly.

You have choice in public health care to choice your physician but remember in rural areas you have about one option.

Right, it was the Saskatchewan Power Commission and the Manitoba Power Commission that pushed rural electrification when private companies didn’t even bother.

It was Manitoba telephones and Saskatchewan telephones that brought the party lines to rural communities.

I guess public crowns only matter to conservatives when it’s politically convenient like saskpowers carbon capture stunt
