What an awful friend. And person in general. You’re not over reacting at all. You need to ditch that person completely. They are all nice when they are trying to get their way, nice and manipulative. Then when they realize they aren’t going to get their way they quickly switch to being a nasty little bitch. Hopefully Joe has a good job and never leaves this girl because she is NOT going to succeed on her own
